Y'all that are fans of the Interstate my hat is off to you....If I had rode one a few  miles in the southern heat before buying I would never owned a Interstate .Today with the help of my friend's and ridin' bud's Gordon ( Lucky 13 ) and Big Al we took care of well over half that POS huge windshield.Took off my fork shields also and finally I feel the wind  :cooldude:



Gordon talked me out of just leaving that barn door off ....I kinda like the way it looks without a windshield  :-\



Special thanks to Lucky 13 he did a very professional job on cuttin' the shield and Big Al bought lunch ...A good day with friends  :cooldude:



Just got done detailing it and may ride it to InZane now that I can feel some wind....Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

That's a nice looking mod...I like it a lot.  How many TPI was the blade used to cut the shield?

I'm with you on that, Joe. I cut my Tourer windshield monstrosity down to 16.5 inches from the top of the headlight cutout. Takes the wind off my chest, still good protection, but I can breath in the Florida heat. I also prefer looking over the windshield as opposed to though it, with all the bright sun distortion and my poor old eyes.

I like the shape Gordon put on it.

Kinda mimics the curve of the back rest.

Summer time windshield shorter and winter time taller .


This could start a trend.

I'm just the opposite, I don't like wind blowin my head around.  So I bought the tall Tulsa.  If everybody liked the same things we wouldn't have different brands of cars and trucks, we would all drive the same kind.

Looks good Joe. I cut off the one that was on my state but I cut way too much. May as well not have a windshield.

Looks good Joe.  I've been riding without one on my standard for the last few rides and it feels great!

I need to cut mine down.  A friend sent me an instructional video that walks me through it.

I have no idea Jim  ???   It was a fine tooth metal blade I'm sure ....Well not 100% sure  :-\

Pretty easy to do it helps to have some help ( extra hands to help hold while cutting ) . I took the windshield off my Blue / White " BADMOJO " bike as well .... I've had you on my mind today Paul and was telling Gordon and Al about the e-mail you sent me....I wish you only the best and will add you in my prayers.I look forward to our next ride  :cooldude:

I cut mine with a roto-zip, then sanded it to shape.  Worked great.

Another thing... if we were ALL the same tall... we wouldn't need different shield heights either. :evil: :angel:

Thats true John and I do have another windshield for winter riding...I hate a windshield in the summer but I love a windshield in the winter  :)

I just pulled over yesterday to put my fork shields back on.  I think the high was around 65 and I, of course, didn't pack my jacket.  Again.  As usual.  High tomorrow 61.

Joe, I'm getting ready to do the same thing to the old stock shield that came on my I/S when I got it.  It's all scratched up and cloudy, so I'm going to make mine look like Highbinder's.  I think it'll look good with the Prowler blue.... :cooldude:

The short shield looks great Joe. I think I may have to do the same thing as it gets a bit too hot behind my oem Interstate shield with my full face Aria on the 90+ days.

Hey, Joe!  I ended up taking those fork shields off again today.  It was in the 50s when I left Cody this morning, but somewhere in Montana it hit 90.  I noted the thermometer on my handlebars (behind the shield) dropped 10 degrees without them.

Thoses fork shields are the bomb in the winter but in a word they " suck " in the summer heat.We should roll into ground zero sometime wednesday afternoon.

They felt good in Wyoming when it was in the 50s and 60s.  Early Bird stopped by my house today and got my jacket, so those fork shields were wonderful.  There.  Not here.

I hope to roll in on Monday, depends on weather and how this shoulder is holding up.
