He was lights and sirens responding to a request for back-up.  Bikers stopped at a light... just ran them down.  Open lane to his left...

BAC .19 2 hours later by blood test.  Which was improperly administered. (Purposefully?)

Makes my ass bleed I am so angry about it.

My SO says that a lot too...let it go...so I remind her that I could have been one of the 3....puts things into perspective for her...

The accident was at like 10:45 AM too.  The guy was drunk, on DUTY in the morning.  This was his 6th accident, I think, in 5 years in his police cruiser.  Obviously the first serious one, but STILL.

Cop should be fired and hopefully the families can sue him somehow.
Does piss ya off.

The town needs a new police chief. He's the one who set the tone and allowed that "take care of our own'" culture. Maybe a new Mayor?
There are way too many people who think of police as sheep herders rather than public servants. At the end of the day, the voters put people in office who allowed this.
Here there be Dragons.

We do protect our own on the EMS side. My staus has gotten me out of a huge ticket out of my town but I never volunteer the info. They find out on their own. Plus I know some city cops that would love to give me a ticket or lock me up. I know a detective that puts his card on the registration of his wifes car.  :-\

What the cop did was wrong and need punished for it.

Wasn't it just the DUI charges that were dropped? I think he is still going to be charged with 3 other felonies including "reckless homicide". Don't know why everybody is so upset with the DUI being dropped when it probably carries the least penalties.

Jabba

It's just one step toward letting him go.  I mean, WHY take the blood in such a way that you KNOW it's gonna get tossed?

I still think it purposeful.

Did they say how it illeagally administered? Unless they used rubbing alcohol instead of betadine, thats all I can think of. Still not gonna throw it off alot. What about a breathalyzer?

From the article:

Brizzi said the blood test showing Bisard had a blood-alcohol content more than twice Indiana's legal limit could not be used as evidence because it wasn't taken in a hospital by someone legally certified to do so, which is required by state law. Instead, a lab technician drew Bisard's blood at a clinic where officers generally are taken after they are injured, he said.

He is still being charged with the more serious felony crimes.

Jabba

Yeah, but it'll be a lot easier to get off for those... when being DRUNK on DUTY is inadmissible in court.

:tickedoff:

It may not be admissible in a court, but it sure as H*ll should count in the Chief's and Mayor's office.
