My OEM windshield is starting to get to the point where I want to replace it.  Any thoughts about a Clearview as opposed to the OEM?  I like the OEM but the Clearview is a lot cheaper.  I know it is made of acrylic as opposed to Lexan.  Pros and cons?

Clearview is thicker and more scratch resistant. It does not have the coating which goes bad on the stock after time.
F4 customs makes a good one too.

I like my Clearview... I got a shorter one, it is a big win for me in the rain... being wet is a lot better than
being wet and blind  They'll let you try it out and send it back if you don't like it as long as you
don't take the protective plastic off...

my clearview is taller and wider than stock.  works great for me. also it can be polished to get the scratches out.

clearview shields are great, but if you are in a hurry depending on where you order it, it may take a while to get one



i know of a dealer in florida that may have one in stock

I can't speak directly about the differences and performance of the two windshields, but if one is Acrylic, and the other Lexan, as you state, then physically there are HUGE differences.

I can tell you that Lexan is a GE product, from a Polycarbonate material that is much more impact, and shatter resistant than Acrylic. Acrylic typically has to be coated in order to make it more scratch resistant. Also, in industrial applications, Lexan has to be used BECAUSE it is more resistant to shattering and penetration.

Might be something worthwhile to consider!

I spend a lot of time on the hiway, and I've seen bugs, rocks, bits of tire and other debris bounce of my windshield. Once some type of largish black bird. I don't think I'd feel all that comfortable with anything up front weaker than Lexan.

Wow!.  After watching that, it seems as if its a no-brainer.  HDL has the OEM shield for about 40 bucks more than the Clearview.  I don't plan on being shot at (you never know) but have taken a rock or two before.

It is a top quality product.

Hey Shotgun, are you sure about that price of only $40 more than "Clearview" for an OEM?  The dearlership here (about 2 years ago) quoted $300 for an OEM with no hardwear just like the OEM size Clearview I paid about $170.00 for landed at my door step.  I guess I've been lucky because no one has shot at me nor hurled stones, baseball bats or hammers.  My Clearview is still like new and it's got about 25K on it so far. Just another two cents.

If you are buying a windshield as a piece of bling or jewelry, then maybe it makes no difference!

But if you are buying it for what it is, a "shield" to protect you then it may matter.  If ever a piece of rubber or road debries flys up at you, the price difference suddenly won't matter near as much!

Sorry I was off on the price difference.  The Clearview I looked at was $203 and HDL has the OEM on sale for $263, so it"s $60 difference.
