Is it true that the front brake rotors from a Goldwing 1800 will fit on a ValK? What are the differences if any.

Thanks, Dave

sandy

It's been reported that the Wing rotors are a direct fit. BUT: The Wing starts out at 3.5MM with a service limit of 3MM. The Valk is 4.5MM with service limit of 4MM. Big difference in price.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has some serious miles on these GW replacement rotors.

repaced my stock rotors with EBC very happy with them MUCH better stopping power than stock.

Sandy's got the numbers a little wrong.  Valk original is 5mm and min. is 4mm, while the Wing original is 4.5mm and min. is 3.5mm.  Having said that, I don't think it's a problem to run to the minimum Wing spec, as my original Valk rotors were below 3mm and still stopping fine (for the record, they were that thin when I bought the bike).  We've only got about 8K miles on these Wing rotors with no problems so far.  They are identical in appearance to the EBC replacement rotors, which is slightly different from the stock Valk rotors.  EBC lists the same rotor for each application, but charges more than Honda does for the 1800 Wing rotors.

Thanks for the info. I have to change the rotors out on my 2000 Valk. What pads are you running with the 1800 rotors? The stock Honda Valk pads or the 1800 Honda pads?
I'm lucky, or so she tells me!!

Pads are designed to fit the calipers, so use the Valkyrie pads.

Okay guys a little help. What year 1800 Goldwing front rotors fit the Valkyrie. I order a set for the VTX 1800 2003, the part numbers seemed the same but they will not bolt up to the wheel. Looking on the part fiche I see only  Goldwing part numbers that match the VTX. Dont want to order them wrong again. It cost 20% plus $20.00 to return to Direct Line. Any help would be appreciated.   Dan

I think any pads made for the Valkyrie are good to use but I would stay with "organic" pads to get the longest life from the rotors.  Since I changed out my rotors that were very worn (from using metallic/ceramic pads) the new (used) rotors have shown very little additional wear since i have stayed with organic pads.  I'm trying to avoid having to buy new rotors since they are so very expensive.
