As bad as that seems, climbing down is definitely worse than climbing up.

I also imagine they pick days that are not windy to do their maintenance.... besides getting blown off the tower, the tower itself probably sways as much as 20 or more feet at the top.

Couldn't watch it all the way to the top, I'm not much for heights. Had to climb columns at the chemical plant, some up to 200' with an 18-20' base and they swayed. If you have ever done this, then you know what that radio tower is doing.

  After the first couple of minutes, I knew if I wanted to watch the rest of it, I had to go out to the garage and get a rope to tie myself onto my chair.  Good thing I did. 

  Still had a queezy feeling watching this idiot AND his partner. 

What do you think the job description looked like?  And what previous experience would even come close to qualifying anyone for this job?

absolutely incredible.  I too had to force myself to watch the whole transit.  When the climber took a break, so did I.

I've watched this video before and it still makes me queasy.  Whatever these guys are paid, it ain't enough.

Seems like someone would/could invent a way to lower the light to the ground or at least to the elevator level for maintenance.  Maybe they should use massive LEDs which last forever!

When I worked for Austin Community College, oh about a gazillion years ago, my boss there offered me a job for his "real" company. It involved climbing the towers across the lake from Mt Bonnell. Seems that every lightning storm that rolled through fried antennae.
I do not recall the exact figures but it paid $xx dollars up to a certain height then $1 a foot after that.

I've looked all over 'the net', can't seem to find out much about this video. .  like where is this tower located (city? country?) and how much do these guys get paid? Have there been any accidents? etc.
