I'm just about to put on a Show Chrome Fender Skirt on the front fender. Is it really necessary to drill into the fender to hold these on, or will some sort of strong double-sided tape do? I don't really like the idea of drilling but I don't want the thing flying off either! I'd be interested to hear what others have done. Thanks

I drilled mine and put the bolt in it.

IF, you go that route, be sure and put a piece of wood between the fender and your tire when drilling.......   That drill bit can and will make a pretty good hole if ya don't get it stopped in time.....

So, add the wood and be safe......

Lol,,,,.   ;D I bought the same skirt a few months ago and just can't bring myself to drilling holes in the fender either!  :uglystupid2:

One of these days I'll get courage up to mount them.

As far as using double sided tape,,,,, I'd,,,, think that at highway speeds, they'd eventually come off and possibly do damage to the bike or even worse your rear tire which could cause the potential for an accident.  :coolsmiley:

fudgie

I've had my fenders drilled for over 7yrs now for mud flaps and they show no signs of rust. It would be better as they said incase it falls off.

You're all right. I'll stop whimping out and get those holes drilled! I'll seal them before bolting up. It'll feel better at speed knowing I'm not relying on a bit of tape. Thanks Guys
