Brake pads

Last night, I did extensive reading after I search this site for "brake pads".  I learned more about the makeup  pads and the construction of rotors than I intended but I never learned if anyone has used
Galfer Semi-metallic carbon or EBC organic brake pads with OEM front rotors.

(I'm shopping price and I don't need racing grade binders.
HDL's price on OEM pads looked pretty good with free shipping till you figure in "standard handling" -about the same price as UPS ground. )

I've been using EBC organic with OEM front rotpors for a lot of miles and have been very pleased.

My front rotors have 157,000 miles on them and they're about due for replacement.

There are many opinions on this subject for sure!

Pads hardest on rotors are:   Metallic, semi metallic, and sintered. 

Pads easiest on rotors are:  Organic

Pads with the greatest stopping power: Metallic, semi metallic, and sintered.

Pans with the least stopping power are: Organic

I just recieved my order for 2 front and 1 rear pads 2 sets of all 3 O-rings and 2 of the thrust washers came out to be $118.xx but that was shipped from the local Honda Power Sports dealership. They offer up to a 30% discount to members of a local bike forum.

The pads I ordered are exactly what came on the bike when it was new, figured they were good enough then they should be fine now also.

I posted it before but I will do it again I hope I am not upsetting the powers in charge around here...

sintered bronze HH rated (OEM pads) wear the rotors about the same that organics do, however SBs will always have better stopping power esp in wet conditions compared to street organics. notice I didn't say race organics which have better stopping power but require lots of heat generation to work.

Most agree, with OE rotors, you should use OE replacement pads to get the greatest life from your OE rotors (which are expensive).  The OE pads are very good quality, stop the bike very well, and are not overly pricey like many OE Honda parts. 

I always keep a two pair of the fronts and a single of the rears on hand, and replace them immediately when used (like at tire changes).

Yes, I have.  Since I live on the plains, rather than in the mountains I don't know that the extra stopping power of sintered pads is critical. If organic works for Willow they would work for me.

After reading a Texas Valkyrie rider's review of Braking Semi-metallic pads, I've decided to give them a try.
