Was riding on the Highway at about 65 mph, screw the throttle to pass and NOTHING just  a slow increase in speed. I backed off and tried again still no go. Rode about two more miles cranked down on the throttle and jumped to 80 in just a few seconds. It was almost like someone was holding me back. No excessive wind to matter. Any suggestions of what to check sure would be helpful.

yep..doing the same identical thing mine done a few years back..my petcock diaphram had a slice in it..carbs were getting gas but just enough to maintain a steady speed.

bassin

How did you determne that what do I need to do to see if thats the problem?

3W-lonerider

pull your petcock apart and see if the diaphram is torn..if so you need a cover set.

Pull the vacuum line off at no-6 intake and hook a vacuum (hand pump) to the line
if you have one.  It should hold vacuum if its ok.  If it leaks off fairly fast then diaphragm
is bad.
Time is not what is taken but what remains.

The test at the end of this article in shoptalk will help ensure you reassembled
the petcock properly before you put the tank back on and find out the hard way...
