low mileage bike, 373 miles, '01 I/S

I would be more worried about buying that then one with miles    have to wonder why? and if it is legit, what else could be wrong from sitting so long,

Yup, the Cardiff Giant is....or was, a local legend in the Ft. Dodge area. That's my home town and there's a bunch of open gypsum mines in the area. Some smaller spots had been closed down when I was a kid and they let them fill with water. We used to go skinny dipping there in the summer after work or after dates. We would drop our dates off at home, then go pick up the party girls and head for the pits....which were usually back in a cornfield at least a half mile off the road. Some of the "good old days" really were good....even if we weren't. 

Remember a tire changer called the Iron Tireman? Was the first mechanical tire changer that revolutionized the industry...and his granddaughter was HOT. She drove a Willys-Overland Jeepster which her granddad, inventor of the Iron Tireman, had stuffed a new Oldsmobile engine and tranny in it. We saw 130 mph one night coming back into town and it still was climbing...grandpa used to race also, so knew a bit about building an engine. Sure glad my four girls didn't find out about some of my adventures, they had enough of their own.

   I found a 99 I/S last fall just like that one up in mich.
   The guy bought it new in 2000, rode it a short time
   then blew out his knee some how but couldn't ride
   anymore after that. Older guy in his 70's now finally
   decided to sell it, has 704 miles one the clock.
   this bike still has the original markings on the tires
   and the warning stickers on the gas tank.
   Pulled the carbs to clean them out, am just now getting
   it to run perfect again. It hadn't been started in 3 years.
   I took it for its first ride yesterday. Put two miles on it.
   Don't tell me those bikes aren't out there I have on to prove it.

I bought my 99 I/S in 05 it only had 232 miles on it, original owner bought it early 02 and did some chrome loading on her then drove it home and around town just couple days then had a major auto accident that left him a "QUAD" he regained some mobillity and hoped that eventually he would return to riding but that never happened and his family caried it over to a local consignment dealer and it sat there about 2 months before I took the plunge. still had the extended warranty on her until June of 09. Took it to the "STEALER" and had first oil change supposedly all fluids and carbs cleaned out.

I gave 12K flat out the door, and just got her paid off first of November this year.

I saw that bike on my daily ebay cruise...It is at a dealer and has had the carbs cleaned out (they mentioned that they were plugged up)..I would bet it is an honest to goodness real live deal...too bad I don't get 10 grand a month social security, lol...

My guess if the carbs were done correctly and the motorcycle has new tires and nothing leaking you have a like new Valkyrie.  I got a 1998 standard 3 years ago that had 1,066 miles showing.  had the carbs done, new tires and have gone 28,000 miles problem free.  Mine will be for sale after the first of the year, I had to have a 30,000 mile red 1996 Gl1500SE with a few extra goodies.

Not as much  buying a Valk as much as a odometer.. Once  it has miles on it then it is worth what the rest of them are. I  would be cool to get a low miler but why spend a bunch of money when these run  well over a hundered k anyhow.

Tires-Timing Belts-Fluid Change-and a break in period of about 5 miles or longer depending on where the on ramp to the Interstate is.....$8,500.00 would be the most I think it is worth

Valk Values are up there.. The low milers havent lost anything in years. I was looing for a interstate in late summer and found a loaded one. With 20k on it. It sold for 8500. The flipped it right away for 10500.

I sold my last valkyrie tourer in the summer of 98 with 24k for 7600. You could buy, and the guy who bought it did, that you could get a new left over vtx1300 for 6800.. He still went with the Lady.

I just paid 7000 for my 13k Tourer with all kinds of goodies. I could have bought a 7 year newer ST for the same thing and alot of other newer bikes...

But there is a great demand for the best, and with the help of the internet it gives us a good picture of whats what.

Damn, I bought my '99 last August with 7,900 miles.  I want a refund due to high mileage    To be serious, it had obviously been well-maintained, but I knew it would at the least need a good carb cleaning and new tires, the latter not because of wear, but because of age.  New slow jets, a set of Dunnie E3s and she's literally as good as new.  But like the others have said, the right bling is a big consideration, price-wise.  I'm not too concerned with resale, because without any doubt this will be the last bike I'll own; it'd be impossible to move "up" to anything else.

I bought my 99 Interstate with 6500 miles on it for $8,500 last Summer. It came with a receipt from the local dealer for $1,200 for two new Dunlop E3 tires, carb adjust, oil/filter change, brake fluid flush, radiator fluid flush, rear drive flush, new spark plugs and new valve cover gaskets. Seemed like a pretty good deal for essentially a 'new' Interstate at that point. It even came with the Hondaline saddlebag chrome rails, trunk chrome top rack and the front fender chrome rail.

Thanks to deals I found here and over at the VOIA site I've been able to add a few other goodies I like.

Not sure that is an I/S. Looks like a standard with I/S fairing and pods or a wrecked I/S with no hard bags or trunk. Also the custom paint might be a tip. Not cutting on it, it might be a nice bike.
I didn't pay much more than that for my mine. It's not "new" but is complete.
