Viking Exhaust

I picked up a set last yr. However the headers need to be re-coated. Does anybody know what the base metal of the pipes are? Carbon steel? CRES? etc.

I'm pretty sure they're just steel.
When mine were new I used water to check for leaks (bad welds). Next morning the ceramic coating had red rust on the exterior. I only trapped water on the inside overnight, but I ascertained the coating was porous?!? and got just enough moisture to the exterior. Hate to see what happens to them if the bike is stored outdoors?
I was under the impression the headers were stainless. They were advertised to be...the cans aren't stainless either, only the baffles...
BTW, I hand polished the headers up and they've been fine for better then 3 years.

yep, got home and the old magnet indicates carbon steel. Put a little sandpaper to them and they do look like they are a higher quality CS due to the shine left.
