....Gorilla Glue on side cover "tab" ?

...cant believe I snapped off the tiny side cover tab on the State this morning. Wanna attempt to "glue" it back on. Chili opened the drawer and handed me a bottle of "Gorilla Glue". Thought I read somewhere that its NOT safe for plastic...so I did a search.


Didnt really find anything saying it wasnt safe on plastic...but did find one guy saying how it "foams up"...and therefore not good on "small parts".


...What have ya,ll used to remedy this situation ?

I used a piece of hose clamp and JB Weld to fix mine.  The hose clamp has plent of voids in it so the JB Weld would squeeze through and really bond.  Scuff up the inside of the cover where you are going to glue it to help with adhesion.

I made new tabs(notice I said TABS, plural     ) from pieces of very heavy duty paper clips purchased at an office supply, then used JB Weld to fasten them in place. Much stronger than the little plastic pieces.

I also used gorilla Glue on the tab right side... It's holding firm 200 miles later and expect it to hold indeffinitely.  It does swell up while drying... but it's on the inside of the cover... so i didn't care much.
i applied it and clamped it for 1/2 day.  Strong as new.

There's a bunch of ways that people have fixed those, and Gorilla Glue might work, but... that's
an expensive chunk of plastic to experiment on...

Since that stuff is ABS, I used ABS-rated plumbing glue when I had a crack...

+1 on the JB Weld, have fixed stuff (and plastic) with it. It ain't going anywhere...

I repaired mine similar to others,

I used a two part epoxy, (similar to JB Weld but consistency is thinner) I mixed up a batch about the size of a quarter and 2-3 times as thick, then transferred the epoxy to the side cover. Once where I needed it, I pressed a metal tab the size of the old tab into the epoxy until it squeezed over the sides of the metal tab. You can work it around with a small wood stick if needed.

Leave it in place overnight, and you will be good to go.
