Rebuilding my carbs. How do you separate the two conjoined carbs without damaging them? I have tried everything I can think of. at a standstill right now. anything helps...thanks

Your problem is most likely some dissimilar metal corrosion on the dowels that hold them together because they are steel vs. the aluminum carb bodies. Some WD40 or other penetrating oil will help to loosen them up. I struggled with them too. After letting them sit with the oil for a few minutes you can use a small punch and tap lightly with a small hammer to get them to separate.  I used steel wool to remove the corrosion from the dowels before reassembling.
Damn thing gives me the grins every time I get on it!

Spray lubricants can be your friends! :D

I used a couple very thin flat bladed screw drivers and a small box end wrench to tap like a hammer, I also lightly sprays the joints with WD-40, very very very small taps and small sideways wiggle movements and they will come apart. Maybe have a spare set of hands hold one while you wiggle and tap the one closest to you.

Let the penetrating type lubricant sit over night.

Just don't pull out your BLUE TIPPED wrench and warm thing up there is gonna be gasoline vapors around and lots of plastic or rubber stuff.

Good luck.
