Saturday Ride With Thunderbolt....

I rolled out long before the meet time I can never sleep when I'm looking forward to a ride. We took off from Clinton, Tennessee around 10:00 and took backroads toward Morristown to hook up with Thunderbolt from Florida .It was a beautiful day with nothing but sunshine and dry roads.We had lunch at Cracker Barrel in Morristown and was happy to see The Evil Twins with Curt and Larry. I always comment on these folk's Valkyrie's and here I go again ....some of the best cared for Valkyries on the road and always in awesome detailed condition.Ray ( Razor ) and Laura also joined the ride at Cracker Barrel.First pictures from The Veterans Memorial Overlook on Clinch Mountain.

Terry, now you know why I don't care to ride in groups...especially in the high country. If it's the first time I'm passing through an area, I want to take it slower and see all there is to see, even take pics on the fly. Can't do that if you're dragging the pegs at every turn. Back in the mid-90's, Rita and I made some bike trips to the mountains in northern N. Mexico along with some friends. They were in familiar territory and took off like a banshee. We caught up some time later and they were a bit perturbed with us so I asked if they saw the various things we did, to which they answered none of that was out there. Then I showed them all the shots we took while riding.

The real fun part came a couple days later when just us four guys headed back into Taos(about 27 miles through the moutains), and the main "hot rodder" took off again...hard and fast. Before hitting the road he made the comment to "try and keep up." About four miles down the road I passed him and never looked back. The subject has never been mentioned since.

We did'nt ride WFO and Thunderbolt ( Terry ) did a outstanding job staying with the group.Group ridin' ain't for everyone but when you ride with experienced riders that stay tight in formation even in the twisties it enhances the art of motorcycling to a whole new level.... " A man's got to know his limitations " .

Looks like ya'll had a good ride and a good day for it. Only got about 136 miles yesterday-but had lovely weather here in the ozarks. Course had to stop in Eminence mo for a waffle cone with chocolate soft serve ice cream. Best $2.13 you will ever spend. Not hard to find-only walk up ice cream place in town on Mo-19. RIDE SAFE.

Joe, I couldn't agree with you more re. knowing limitations. Doesn't apply in this case, however. I have over 60 yrs. riding all kinds of two-wheeled motorized conraptions, a couple of them busted 180 mph back when the only thing holding you on the seat was the pucker factor and most small planes wouldn't go that fast. That said....I still can stay with most anybody if I so desire, I simply don't. No harm done from either side of that coin, glad you all had a great time.

Well as Joe has said many times,,He rides a Spirited pace, but always stops at every turn and sometimes in between.

TO allow the crew to catch up , freshen up and catch the main attractions as we go.

I agree Al, I've know Joe about as long as I've been a member. I was just sharing my experience, not criticizing.
