Whats the best oil?

been a while since on the Valk, just gotta new one...( new to me)... I remember discussions about oil... whats the best oil to use?

search is your friend, don't be afraid. 

any 15w40 or 5w40 diesel oil is the way to go. I presently use amsoil 10w30/30 HD diesel oil

   Honda designed it to use 10W40 motorcycle 4 stroke oil.  My guess that would be best. That is what is in mine and will be again at the next change. Big can of worms to open.  Everyone tries different thing.

I found the the Rotella synthetic 5-40 to be noisy. I previously used Spectro's 10-40 synthetic blend in my Suzuki for 20 years, with good results. I just changed to Rotella T5 10-40 synthetic blend. This is my first experience with this oil. However I'm pleased so far.

I use Amsoil in "everything" that I own.

I tell people is that if you aren't using someone's synthetic, you're crazy.

And I feel that Amsoil is the best synthetic.

I like the fact that they don't rest on their laurels.

They consistently work to improve their products.

Many have their own opinion about whose oil is best.

Amsoil does have a lot of good information on their website, not just about their products but about oil and lubricants in general.

Oh and NEVER, I mean NEVER ask which is the best oil filter to use.

You can't beat Riezon SuperSyn Red, if you can find it you'll want the -5/100W.     Or if you can't find it you can go with what I prefer Amsoil 10/40.

I just cut the guts out of an old oil filter and stuff it full of old panty hose,then I tape it back together and it leaks a little,but then I dont have to worry about what kind of oil I am running because it is not in there very long any how ! Cuts down on oil changes too (kinda changes itself) and the bonus is how much better I can fit in with my Harley buddies because when the big dog marks his territory the lil dogs pay attention !

incorrect. read your owners and service manuals.

There is a SAE report, which I have posted before, which states that the major manufacturers develop their engines for 10w30.

i don't use oil, i fill it full of grease. rins a bit slower, but never leaks

with my pancake batter its high temp sunflower oil  but just a half a teaspoon

saute its olive oil   how in the world they can determine that it is EXTRA VIRGIN I have no idea

While cleaning up the new to you bike and changing the oil, don't forget to replace the headlight and blinker fluid!

DORK !  Dont you know WD-40 is a fish oil ?  Long johns or Red lobster is where to get your fry oil !
