ValkFlyer

That thing on e-personalities got me to thinking about some of the handles on this site....What is your's and what's it mean or represent?  In my case, ValkFlyer is a take off of my old RadioFlyer wagon.  When I was a youngster I'd ride that thing so fast down our hill I'd damn near piss my pants...I've come close on my Valk a few times, she's...a flying machine!

Mine came from work, as a shift leader for Bombardier at Tampa Airport, my crew gave me the nick name of Grumpy. They probably called me worse things, but that one stuck.

in 2003 I was ossinlngvalkyrie but it took too long to spell so I shortened it at DOTS to Ossvalk

apparently that was still too many letters so I became known as just Oss

bigdog99

my friend with an HD called the valk a big dog 1 day, that stuck, i stepped lightly on BIGDOG's name when i checked out the site, and it said bigdog was taken, so i added the year to the end.
i also made up business like cards to pass out on road trips, you know you meet someone, give em card, maybe they look you up years later. :uglystupid2: i think the only one i gave away was to someone who needed to write something else down.  :2funny:

Well at 2 in the morning when I found this board and they asked for a nick name I went  ??? and decided on EngEmt. I am a RR Engineer and up till last December an EMT. I did not think about actually using it in a live situation, again,  ???! Been debating about changing it, since I am no longer an EMT. Was gonna ask for some suggestions, but then again I was afraid what I might end up with  :o :uglystupid2: :2funny:

Got my nick name from the younger guys I used to work with at the Opera House in Seattle, I had a really short fuse back then.  I'm in the Vermin Nation now and some one has my Handle, so I'm using Slowpoke , it's about my riding style.

Here's a pic...

(I have the bug screen on the grill, that's why it looks kind of fuzzy and the big round spots behind the headlight and at the bottom of grill are the spring fasteners for it).

If you look close, you can see the reflection of the Valkyrie motor in the side of the hood  :cooldude:

The little girl next door called me Mr Steve one day.  It was better than the random username I was using and nobody else was using it.

Serk

Back in my teenage days me and several friends played AD&D.. A LOT... I rolled a barbarian character, used name dice trying to find a good name for a tall barbarian character, and S E R and K came up... SERK... Serk.... Sounds like a good name for a tall barbarian skull smasher type character...

When playing AD&D, you're encouraged to get into character, and BE your character as much as possible, thus we called each other by our character's names. Most of my friends at the time played AD&D, so over time, they started calling me Serk even when we weren't playing, and over the years, it's kinda stuck...

I'm just glad it was the character named Serk that stuck, and not the wizard named Dornak! ;)
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

The Anvil

When I was working for Gulfstream one of my coworkers said that I looked like the professional wrestler Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart (and I guess I kinda do). I'm also a sheetmetal/structures specialist so I was always beating on metal and making a lot of noise. Seemed appropriate. He started calling me Anvil and it just stuck.

Varmintmist

About 2-3 years before the interwebs became populated with chat boards and I had time, I was into varmint hunting big time. Finally got a rifle that would push a 50 gr Nosler ballistic tip at 3970fps without pressure signs that the groups just got tighter the faster I pushed it. ( I did take it to 4008 but no improvement in accuracy so I backed it off) Well, you can hold the scope on with follow through.... and I got into firearms message boards....
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Magellon

Before GPS on our yearly "boys week out" ski trips to Tahoe I was the one with the maps. My buddies nick-named me Magellan. Then the internet came along and the correct spelling was taking when I set up my first e-mail account so I changed the "A" to an "O" and I stuck ever since.
