I have a new Clearview Shield on its way to me as my old ones (have two) are 12 years old and showing their age terribly.  Been talking to Clearview about taking care of the shield once I get it and they recommended putting RainX Original Formula on it as soon as I get it.  They claim that since their shields are DOT Approved acrylic and not coated lexan like the stocks, they don't need the coating and therefore you can use RainX on it.

I found this information VERY interesting.  Anyone else with the Clearview using RainX on them?

I used rain x on my oem shield once with no problems. That was before I found this sight.

i have started cleaning bugs off my shield with hydrogen peroxide due to a post on the board, and the only thing i put back on is the Honda cleaner polish.
RainX says not to use on plastic windshields, i never have, i just keep it polished up with the cleaner/polish.

Lemon pledge... always have.   Try it on your old windshield to test if you doubt it... it works very well...

My windshield is now several years old...I spot coat it with pledge, wait a bit. wipe bugs off with one soft towel.  I then respray as necessary and finish cleaning with another towel.   After about 6 years, no crazing, and very few scratches.

Your mileage may very.  BTW, it works like plexus!

I've used Rain-X a couple of times on my Clearview with no problems.  Bugs seem to come off a little easier, too.

I emailed them and they said "no problem using Rain-X".
