SS 1000 = 1000 miles in 24 hours.

BB 1500 = 1500 miles in 36 hours.

Both have documentation requirements.

No sir, live in the Houston/Tomball area.   My partner and I picked Kerrville to leave from because headed west we could run 80 on I-10 with no problem and NM and AZ had a 75 mph speedlimit day and night that allowed us to try and run 80 mph continuously without too much of a legal problem. 

Our biggest danger was night time deer and animals that we nearly hit several times in West Texas at night.  Running 80 at night by the time an animal comes into the headlight you don't have much reaction time.  Another major factor is gasoline.  I put the interstate tank on my Tourer for the run and my partner put an auxillary tank on his Honda VTX.  We lined out our gas stops before the run and called the stations on the IBA list and verified that they were going to be open at the time we were going to be coming through.  We got the Yamaha shop in Kerrville to sign our starting papers and at the end we stopped at the Kerrville Fire Dept to get our ending verifications signed.  If anyone is contemplating this challenge make sure you go to the IBA website and make sure you are doing it by the book.  There is very little give in those guys.....you have to really earn the award or they won't give it to you.  They ck the gallons you use between each gas stop and make sure your mileage is exactly the same all the way through.  Your speedometer is also a problem in that all speedometers aren't the same so they only take mileages from Map Quest and the like.  At the end Map Quest showed we went about 1540 miles.  My Valkyrie speedo showed 1,494 miles and the VTX showed 1,560 miles. That's a lot of difference in speedo's.     Another problem is the immigration and drug ck on the Texas side of El Paso.  My partner was originally from El Paso and after we went from Kerrville to Benson AZ and started back we came through the immigration ck in the middle of the night.  My partner told me to tell them we had left AZ and was headed to Kerrville because if you have been driving for more than 12 hrs they will sometimes make you stop and sleep......that would kill the gig.
Fortunately we slowed down and they waved us on through. 

I don't know why I did the Bun Burner Gold (1500 miles in 24 hrs) ......it just sounded like a neat challenge at the time.  Glad I did it.....wouldn't do it again........however......keep catching myself reading about the IBA 50cc(50 hrs coast to coast)......that's Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean in 50 hrs......or viseversa....I know several who have done it.
