Trailer Wiring

  I am going to hook up wiring for an Aluma trailer thatr I am purchasing.  The trailer comes with a 5 wire plug so the turn signals and brake light are already separated.
  Is there any type of plug and play adapter for the bike or can you use,  or go ahead and connect the appropriate wires?
  I have been searching and not been able to find anything.  The one writeup in Shoptalk deals with converting the 5 wire on the bike to 4 wire on the trailer.
  As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

go to any trailer assessory place and you should be able to find the coresponding plug to match your trailer..if not then buy a matching set and wire them accordingly. with the turns and brake seperate it is quite easy to wire. I would deffinatly use an isolator though. or put a fuse in each wire..trailer wiring and connections on the trailer do and will have a way of rubbing and shorting out over a period of years..by isolating each circut your taking away the chance of a short on the trailer taking the towing vehicle lights out with it. if your trailer has all LED lighting then i'd install a 3 or 5 amp fuse in each wire. if they arn't LED then maybe a 5  amp ..
How i wired mine is i installed a diode in each wire then after the diode a fuse. this way if it shorts it cannot backfeed or get to the bike circut threw the diode unless it goes bad to. i have all LED lights on my trailer..only problem i see with using a diode with non LED is the diode will heat up and also a diode will cut the voltage going threw it by 1 volt.

You might want to ask Motorcycle Trailer Towing Forum. They may or may not be familiar with any quirks on wiring an Aluma trailer.

All the lights are LEDs.  The trailer comes with a 5 prong round plug and you get the corresponging plug fot the bike.  My main concern is wiring the bike and where is the best place to make the connections to the bikes wires.  I did a little looking for an isolator for the bike but was not able to locate one.  Any suggestions?

as far as the bike connections go i made them at the plugs on the bike. behind the right side cover.

I've got the universal harness and isolator from electical connections.

I like this style so if you ever change to a standard 4 wire trailer you can drop in the adaptor for this and it you are done.  The convertor works as I have it on my car as well.

I spliced in at the large connector on the right side which is for the front to rear wires.
