Ok, probably not what some of you gutter minds were thinking!!   Sometimes the small things do impress me though.

I have been considering adding a CB radio to my I/S for a long time.  The cost for what I consider a junk radio has been a major deterrent.   After the New Mexico trip and forgetting to grab my portable so I could at least listen to the rest of the group, my interest was renewed again.

Everytime I see one the valk cb radios posted, I always look at them.  The price has dropped some, and with the discovery of the Yamaha Royal Venture radio being an almost direct fit, I have been more enthused because of the somewhat reduced cost.   My problem is, I can buy a radio (amateur radio) that will talk around the world for the same or less money....

I happened to run across a Yamaha CB from a Venture Royal on ebay that Pinwall was scrapping out.   I paid $19 plus $13 shipping.    It was posted as a parts radio that did not work.  So, I figured I will just take a chance on a simple fix, or buy enough of them to put one good one together.

It came in today, I went out and fished the wires around on the bike, found a temporary cb antenna and an old helmet system with a microphone that I have had for years.   Did a few tests, and guess what??? It works...   My transmit switch on the bike was a bit cranky from never being used, but after a few cycles, everything smoothed out.

I lengthened the power wires and have installed it in the battery compartment.   Will order a CB antenna that fits the bike next week.

Occassionally I get a break, even if it is just a CB radio on the Valk.....   8)

good for you!!

i got a CB on my IS a couple years ago.  makes riding with a buddy nice, also, there have been times when i will have the wife and kids in the van when we'll go on a trip, i'll have to come home early so i'll take the cycle, it's nice 'cause they can tell me if they have to pull over for something, or just want to chat....

i paid $400 for my CB, came with an antenna, no mount though, made my own.  works good.

only bad thing about a CB is i like to listen to my music more then other people......
