Lesson re-learned...

Denial and wishful thinking are not only bad political philosophies, they're not so hot as riding strategies either. I heard a slight popping noise on the way up to Clinton, the rendezvous spot for the Wild Bunch ride to ground zero. From there I heard a couple more on the next leg of the ride. On the group ride that Saturday, I reckon all the loud pipes kept me from hearing anything ominous, so I allowed myself to employ that foolish plan above... Didn't work... or rather, it all came out in a very predictable way... failure.

In my case, it was the final drive and drive shaft... splines shot - sheared, worn badly, twisted, rusted too. Fortunately I also learned that there are many of our fellow members who will rally to our rescue at times like this, and many of them know exactly what they are doing when it comes to wielding a wrench around our rides... Turned out to be a rather interesting and overall pleasant outing afterall, but there were a couple of moments when it looked rather dour, dicy and distressing...

Don't just dream it... LIVE IT!

See ya down the road...

I learned that it doesn't get any better than riding with The Wild Bunch!  That a Trip planned by Don, Tracy, Joe, Ron and others is a trip you do not want to miss!  That sharing a weekend with this special group of VRCC riders is is something to remember for a long long time.
