I need suggestions for work boots.  I'm a garbage man to pay the bills, and as such am in and out of my truck 800-1000 times a day,  twisting and turning on the street.  Ive been using Redheads treestand line for a few years, and getting about 6mos a pair, but the last pair only lasted 2mos (apparently they changed something).  So  I'm looking for suggestions for full height (8-10") Gore-tex, hard wearing semi agressive tread. in NON safety toe.  Any ideas?

I wear Chippewa and Red Wing the company I work for pays for the Red Wing's but I've always like Chippewa so I still buy and wear them.Georgia boot is a reasonable priced boot also look at Danner.

Man, 2 months out of a pair of work boots means you are working extremely hard for sure.  I could see 6-12 months, but for only 2 months wear I'd try switching as you suggest for sure.  I have an old pair of texas steer basic work boots bought at walmart many years ago for around 35 bucks and although the sole is now thin after several years, no holes in them yet.  Quality sure must be slipping in recent years probably most made now in China like everything else?

I've got a pair of Georgia Boots and seem to like them but not enough wear and tear on them since don't wear workboots on a daily basis.  I know on your feet walking all the time does take it's toll on tennis shoes though since did work once at a warehouse walking all 8 hours long and went thru a pair of tennis shoes in 3-4 months before a hole developed.

Worked in a Petro Chemicals plant for 27 years, Red Wings were work boot of choice. Company paid for a new pair every year, most of us had two or three pairs. Usually they lasted about 2 years going up and down stairs and climbing columns.

A few years back I would have suggested you buy Rocky boots (which also makes the Gerogia boot).  They were made in Nelsonville Ohio in a small factory that made high quality boots, they were guarenteed for one year, if they leaked or a seam let go all you did was return them with your slip and they replaced them for free.  Now there is a 6 months limited warranty.  The factory has been shut down and now Rocky/Georgia boots are made in China............

Check on line at www.whiteboots.com. They aren't cheap but were orginally designed for logging.  Last a long time.  I wear them 40 plus hours a week on a construction project and get almost 2 years out of them.

Another trick is have two pairs and alternate wearing them.  That way they dry out everyday and the cushion support doesn't get damaged as quickly.

I just bought a pair of Rocky Forge work boots. They are maybe my 5'th pair of rocky work boots. Out of those I've gotten one pair that was crappy. They normally last me 6 to 9 months. The Forge model isn't what you would want since they are shorter and steel toed. I've had good luck with Bates side-zip goretex boots too. I used to wear them for riding and they were always 100% waterproof. They are also what I was wearing when I broke my lower leg and they kept everything lined up nicely when it happened so I was able to ride on home.

I buy my work boots and hunting boots (also rockys) from sportsmans guide most of the time. Good prices and amazing selection.

These, they make them w/o the saftey toe also. With the toe, 109/pair, w/o 99, last about a year on me. Nice, light, cushioned. I hung off the back of a truck for a while in college, looked like the guy on the Rubbermaid commercial, these would have been acceptable.

For referance, I used to buy Red Wing climbers, and would make them last for 15 months. The quality went down, the price went up, and I don't climb poles much now, so 235/year was out of line IMHO. I am not easy on boots, even with other pairs at home to wear anything after a year is gravy.

I work in the oil field and there is all kinds of terrain I have to walk through. I am not a lil guy. When I bought a pair of boots they would only last six months at the best. I finally bought a pair of red wings and they lasted three years. Great boots!!  Last november I bought a pair of Arriats, very comfortable and still going strong.  My Hillbilly friend swears on Danner boots, but I never found his style of boots in steel toe
