I can't believe, that among a packed theater of 200 patrons, NO ONE was armed and had the balls to shoot the joker.  Even among the youth crowd, there should have been SOMEBODY to stop him.  Half the men I know carry, with CCW.  It's a big issue in Colorado. Personally, I don't leave the house unarmed.  Had I been there, I'm pretty sure there would have been a different outcome.  I used to live a half mile from that theater - and my favorite Honda dealer is right close by.

I understand why non-gun people get all worked up about this stuff, I really do. It's just that they don't understand the enormity and flat out impossibility of solving the problem through the means they desire. It just can't happen. Not everyone's gonna be right about everything anyway.

I don't carry much myself. Typically only when I think I might be somewhere dangerous. But these kinds of things are making me rethink that. I may start packing more often.

Agreed, musclehead.  I would like to think I would, and hope so.  taking a human life is so against everything we have learned, who knows.  Until the s++t hits the fan, one never knows.  Like you, I pray I am never in that situation.

I hate to say this. I hate to think it, but. They are saying he had been planing it for months. Did he plan it to coincide with the UN treaty? To help the anti-gun cause?

We've seen this administration send guns to Mexico so guns used to kill Mexican government officials and American LEO's could be blamed on lax gun laws here in the US. When the anti-gun people are willing to sacrifice our own LEO's for their anti-gun cause, would they be willing to help out a freak like this guy too?

Somewhere dangerous.... you mean like a movie theater? School? Church? Mall?  Burger King? (I mention that last one because years ago I, along with other patrons, was robbed at gunpoint at Burger King. This was before Texas allowed concealed carry)

The need to assume responsibility for one's own safety and self defense and arming oneself with the tools to do so isn't limited to time or place.

This was reported on the news - not sure which, I watch Fox & NBC & ABC and they all have agendas as well as incompetent reporting so take this with a shaker of salt:  The theater chain of the shooting, already had a "no guns" policy, and it was posted.  Looking at the armor he wore - he was nearly mistaken as a cop by the SWAT team - and his immediate surrender, I'm saying it was not only NOT a planned "suicide by cop", Holmes is a card-carrying coward.  I'm suggesting he picked the venue BECAUSE it is a "Criminal Safe Zone".  Now I understand better why NO ONE ELSE was carrying in a packed theater.  If I see such a sign - I will either turn around and leave - or ignore the sign.  I won't be disarmed.
