Check out the summit inn in Uniontown, PA, south of Pittsburgh.  I don't know how many rooms are there, but the riding and senery are awesome.  Ohiopyle, (swimming, wadeing, whitewater rafting) are right down the road.

Plus it's in jer0177's back yard.

Also a stones throw from Blackwater Falls, WV, Cooper's Rocks, WV, Cheat Lake, WV.  Some top notch riding!

Did I mention it's in jer0177's back yard?

Friendsville, TN - Troy, MI

Eureka, CA.  Very bike friendly, temps in the low to mid 70's even in the height of summer, great food, great camping, lots of nearby rivers, plenty of lodging and best of all grfeat riding in the giant redwood trees.  You haven't lived untill you've ridden through the giant redwoods.  Oh yeah, It's right on the ocean too.  My wife is from this little town, so I've spent a good bit of time there.  It would be perfect IMHO.

My vote... not that it matters at all... is west.

I regret NOT going to the ones in Frisco Co.  I'll be going west next summer one way or the other.

Jabba

As a fellow flatlander I vote west. Frisco was the best IZ for roads to ride and the rain/hail/sleet/snow coming out of the Eisenhower tunnel was a memorable experience.  Let's look at Cody, WY, Bozeman Mt, etc.   :cooldude:

Jabba

California is a little rough though...  MOST of our attendees are east of the Mississippi river.  either coast is going to hurt attendance.  Let's be REAL folks... It HAS to be somewhere somewhat central.  Somewhere between Utah and Ohio.

Not just mine - PAVALKER, Bob (from Cannonsburg), and some other guys too.   ;)

We also have the Flight 93 Memorial (http://www.nps.gov/flni/index.htm) and Lake Erie is a day trip away, not to mention alll of the great riding roads in the area, wineries, 7Springs, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, etc.

Any place in the south will be hot in July, although being in the mountains helps.

We really enjoyed the Inzanes in Johnson City, TN

But I understand why people like to try different places.

I know that a lot of gatherings are held in Maggie Valley, NC

Maybe that would be a place to consider, the area has some great riding for sure.

Does anyone know anything about this place ?

I wont vote since I have never been to a IZ or plan on it in the near future, no matter how much I want to.  :'(

Upstate New York, the Adirondacks, etc., sounds great. I don't know that much about Wisconsin, but when visiting my daughter up there I saw some interesting roads I'd love to ride one day.

As for moving the date to a cooler time of year, I would guess the majority of members wouldn't be affected by it re. the kids. In the end, it's probably best to make arrangements more to the north. At least play the odds of it being cooler.

For nice riding, my travels have led me to believe each state has its own merit. For my money, go back to Michigan but maybe use a different ground zero.

I am all for moving closer to me!! I have only been a member a few years but it has been no less then a very long two day ride from me one way and burning a week of vacation just to get there isn't a option for me. I wish it was. Cody or Bozeman perfect for me. I am only 20 miles from Bozeman. I could help with lots of stuff if needed to around here. Still gets hot here in summer 80,s low 90,s but when sun goes down it cools off into low 50,s and 40,s at night so you get some relief then.

I think if the Bozeman area was being considered the little town of Three Forks,MT would be a better choice than Bozeman its self. plenty of lodging and camping only 30 miles from Bozeman.I know that small town would welcome us with open arms and a lot nicer place to stay and visit than Bozeman it as gotten big, traffic sucks. typical college town. Just think the small town everyone would enjoy staying in more.

pocobubba

I would love to do Eurika Springs again . We didn't see it all this go around .

Varmintmist

I likely won't have the vacation time to go, again, but.....

Just a thought, there is always Niagra Falls.

You would have decent riding to and from with enough highway to make time on. I was up in late spring and heat was not a problem.

PTGB would probably be able to help you out on routes that would prove interesting.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Interesting to see where this winds up, hopefully not back in ES, Ark., would like to see another location.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

I'd advise against San Francisco.     That is one beech of a place to try and drive around in traffic.

Rush hour is 4:00 AM to 3:AM.     NO parking........    Got a few Motels and Hotels, but the price is out of this world.

Now if ya go South from the City to almost any town on the ocean side of da mountain and ya got some good riding and other activities.

Take a look at Wisconsin Dells.

Lots of things to do and great roads with cabins and camping nearby.

I really like Grumpy's and ChrisJ's ideas.   :cooldude:

But anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Mississippi IN THE FALL would be great.   :)

Seems to be a lot of talk about where but not a whole bunch about when. Just about anywhere would be good if we did a spring or fall event. I have never been to one, yet, but will, God willing next year. Would love to see it in the Appalachians (N.GA, NC, TN, VA) in the Fall.
I still miss her.

Well if fall is when it ends up being you can count this part of the country out. July and August are the only two months you can count on. There is nice riding weather other months but it can change quickly and without a lot of notice. It can go from shoveling snow to needing the A/C in the same day. There is usually one good storm around end of May with plenty of snow and snow can start again Labor day on. Not usually a lot of it but enough to make it a PIA to ride and enjoy yourself

While they're running around the country and can't defend themselves, how 'bout Hotglue and Flamingobabe's place around the first weekend in April?

I'm new to the Valk and Inzane but not new to riding. That being said, anywhere from Maine to Florida, and the Big Muddy to the Atlantic during the months of April through June would be great. After June all options are off because of work schedules :( Couldn't make it to AK. because it was to late in the year for me. Can't wait to see where this one finally settles.

Rapid City, SD the week before the Sturgis Rally :cooldude:.

Davemn

Crazyhorse.....great idea. Good thinking.

Jackson hole Wy. The Teton Mt. Yellow Stone. Put it on the week before Sturgis and then folks can go to Sturgis if they want after it. Or we could have it in South Dekota before Sturgis and those that want to can stay on.

was with MP, Nitro, Alph, Taz, Challenger, Jetdriver, Cholla, El Borrego  and our family in the VOAi the week after fathers day out in Keystone

Better than Rapid City because of access to 16, the back of Rushmore and the back roads away from 90   Cody just because the Chief Joseph Highway and Beartooth are so freakin awesome

I would like to see it closer to the northeast for my own selfish reasons

The Lake George area can easily accomodate 500 people and day trips into Vermont, New Hampshire and even Maine are possible.  The weeks after Americade is probably the best time weather wise

The Lake Placid loop is fun also as are the Ticonderoga loop

I'd be happy to give tours of the Hudson Valley areas for anyone interested anytime

Americade draws maybe 50000 or more
If you don't know where your going any road will take you there

Bozeman, MT  Yellowstone/Tetons Natl Park, Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, Glacier Natl Park proximity

Taos, NM Ride the enchanted circle, high road to Taos, visit the Taos Publeo

Montrose, CO Million dollar highway, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde day ride, Arches Natl Park day ride

Maine (Portland anyhow, I don't know much about Maine geography) hit records highs (100)
this July. In general, I bet there's a lot of nice places in Maine...

All those North Georgia area suggestions sound great  ;) ... we roasted here this summer,
but my morning ride through North Georgia on my way home from InZane was
deliciously cool... NOT GATLINBURG  :tickedoff: ... The highest point (God's air conditioner)
on the Blue Ridge Parkway is near Maggie Valley...

Mammoth Lakes is almost as far away as China as far as I'm concerned, but
I bet that would be a GREAT place... I think all those lakes are full of snow and glacier
melt...

-Mike

Was just in Maine and what I can tell you is the closer you get to the ocean coast the more lodging cost.  Had a hard time getting a room for less than $150. Make sure you look into seasonal lodging costs when deciding.

Thoughts on Inzane venues.

Having Inzane on either coast will have a large impact on attendance.

A location generally central to the country would be much more readily attended.

Assuming the time of the year would be late July or early to mid Aug. the Northern tier of the Central States would be typically coolest.

Suggestions would then include.

Colorado
-Denver area/Estes Park/Colo Springs

South Dakota
-Rapid City area/Black Hills well before or well after Sturgis Rally

Wisconsin
-LaCrosse Area/ Mississippi River, Western Wisconsin, NE Iowa, SE Minn. Great Roads.
-Door County area
-Pepin/Lake Pepin

Michigan
-Lower Michigan/Along a Great Lake

Minnesota
-Lake City (along Miss. River at Lake Pepin)

Illinois
-Galena area

Iowa
-Missouri Valley/ Gateway to the Loess Hills. (North of Omaha)
-Decorah area/ NE Iowa Great Roads (aka Little Switzerland)

Inzanes can rotate between the West side of these states and the East sides of these States
(1st is Denver Area, next is Missouri Valley in Iowa, Next is Michigan area, Then next is Rapid City area, then Lake Pepin area in Lake City Minn, then Door county in Wisconsin, then back to Denver area and so on.
