Jackson hole Wy. The Teton Mt. Yellow Stone. Put it on the week before Sturgis and then folks can go to Sturgis if they want after it. Or we could have it in South Dekota before Sturgis and those that want to can stay on.
Santa

Oh yeah, my experience from my younger days tells me that Santa and his reindeer have been around...Sounds like a good choice.  :cooldude:

Tailgate Tommy

Somewhere in Colorado above 8,000 feet.

S. Dakota before Sturgis would be good.

Might be a good time to think about Paducah or Johnson City again. The Harry Potter elevators at the Executive Inn were a riot. Lots of room for us there too.

The roads around Johnson City were awesome. If it's the same week as the "Boogie" in Indiana I probably won't be able to make it though. That's my helpers vacation time so I've got to be at work.

I went once when it was in Colorado. Since I am from Oregon all of those East Coast locations are just to far to take that much time off work. I wish we had some regional (NW) meets. Might go back to Colorado, Utah or South Dakota.

fudgie

If its the Black Hills I'd do it well in advance or after Sturgis. A week before or a week after you are still gonna be paying out the ass for a room. $250/ night at the Super 8 is not a good deal.  :o Usually July/Aug are major busy months in the Hills. Day of 76, Mustang rally, etc.

I like the idea of centrally located seeing as this way all have about the same distance eitehr left coast or right, that said I was just reading an article in Road Runner about Rheinlander WI, and it was real nice up there too.
I just hope we get to make it finally to one of the Inzanes....

I agree with the regional concept. I would like to attend my first meet, but I don't get a vacation. I could squeeze in a long weekend, but don't want to spend all of it hammer down for the destination. Iron butts can attend all meets if inclined. Maybe 3 regions (east, mid, & west). .02

Momz

I'd like to see the next IZANE in the Finger Lakes region of New York state.
Great roads and scenery, fairly inexpensive, lots of stuff to do, more lakes and waterfalls than you can imagine.

Just my opinion,....but I'll bet Oss would agree!

Well if fall is when it ends up being you can count this part of the country out. July and August are the only two months you can count on. There is nice riding weather other months but it can change quickly and without a lot of notice. It can go from shoveling snow to needing the A/C in the same day. There is usually one good storm around end of May with plenty of snow and snow can start again Labor day on. Not usually a lot of it but enough to make it a PIA to ride and enjoy yourself

Where exactly is "this part of the country" located?
Montana

The regional concept sounds all well and good, but we can't expect the organizers of Inzane to plan the regional meetings too - that has to be someone who's local to that "region", and all they have to do is plan one and announce it here - "if you build it, they will come"  :cooldude:

Jackson is a great place. Lots of good riding but cost might be an issue. Summer months prices are high. memorial day to labor day and Jackson being in the tetons snow is common place before and after that.

That's how SmokinJoe and Highbinder got their June rides going and they are a great time.  It started with Gettysburg, then the Whiskey Run in Kentucky, and then the Hillbilly Runs the past 2 years. :cooldude:

As for IZ locations, I'd vote for the North Central PA/NY area.  There is some real nice country up there.

Thanks Bob - I was going to mention the quasi-regional events that have been planned but couldn't remember who put forth the effort and where they were.

There's also the "Meet in the Middle" ride, while not a "gathering" so to speak, it's still getting together to ride and shoot the breeze.

I'm a member (relatively inactive since I got the Valk) of another forum (and I know several of you guys are members there too) that has done this - they have an East Coast rally, a Canadian rally, and others.  They just don't (last I looked) have one big shin-dig that invites everyone.  Individual members took it upon themselves to plan those out, and I've been to a couple of them and they were done really nicely.

My vote would be Minnesota LAND OF SKY BLUE WATERS or Wisconsin. centrally located and here in s.e. minnesota and southwest wisconsin are some of the best riding you can find. can you say mississippi river valley !!! I ride these roads all the time and never get sick of them.Of corse this is were I live who would'nt want InZane right in there backyard. ;) :cooldude:

Galena area in ILLinois. Located in the North east corner you can get to wisconsin, ( have to stop in New Diggins for a burger) NE Iowa. Se Minnisota. Lots of possible rides in this area. everything from flat to curves and hills. Lots of shops in galena and good food. Not sure what lodging I would recommend. Lots of places to stay but I have not checked them out. Possibly Chestnut Mountain( ski resort) south of galena a couple miles on a great winding road. Proabably get a good deal in summer and I think it is a pretty good size place.

If it were to be held in the center of the lower 48 it would be near Lebanon Kansas. If it were to held in the center of all 50 states so as not to leave anyone out it would be near Castle Rock, SD. Just mindless trivia for those who care. ???

Is there any plan or reasoning used to pick annual locations? ???

High in the Rockies? Durango, Ouray, etc.? Seattle? Olympia? San Francisco area?

If the San Juans of Colorado gets the nod, Montrose has been proven to be the best town for hosting a rally, for logistics:  Lots of reasonable priced lodging, great central location to some of the best riding in the Rockies.  The HCC has based their annual ride-in there for years, and the VOA there I think twice.
Just a ton of riding - Of course the Million-Dollar Highway (in the AMA's Top Ten), The Black Canyon of the Gunnison, The Unaweep Byway (below) with the Discovery Channel's Resort and Auto Museum at Gateway http://www.gatewaycanyons.com/gateway-auto-museum.aspx , The spectacular ride over to Telluride and on through the mountains along the Dolores River to Mancos and on to Durango - and the spectacular Durango-Silverton steam train.  The Upper Rio Grande valley with Lake City and Creede.  The Indian Ruins with the famous Cliff House at Mesa Verde.  Four Corners.  Monument Valley.  Grande Mesa.  Colorado National Monument.  Aspen and Independence Pass.  Not to mention the clothing-optional Orvis Hot Springs at Ridgeway, a half hour S of Montrose: http://www.orvishotsprings.com/  Or the excellent chicken-fried steak at Ridgeway's True Grit cafe - where part of the John Wayne movie was filmed.

A view at Orvis Hot Springs -

Then there's also the Eastern Utah National Parks - Arches, Canyonlands, Glen Canyon, and the NE end of Lake Powell.
All the above are day rides from Montrose - though the Utah ones are long day rides except Arches.

Not that I'm partial to locating here - I'd like to see some new areas, but I don't think they are candidates for InZane (I'm thinking of Idaho and the NW for my road trips).  If you're thinking of Colorado - It's hard to beat Montrose.  And the Denver / Front Range area - not a good choice as a ride-in destination.  I know ALL of the paved roads on the Front Range - and there are excellent rides in the foothills.  But this is a large metro area - with around 6 million people - not so good for enjoying roads without traffic.

Here's Wingnutzz' short video of riding the Unaweep-Tabeguache Byway, begins about a half hour NW of Montrose:

I'd recommend Idaho Falls, ID instead of Jackson Hole because it is less expensive and a whole less crowded.
90 miles to Jackson, 120 miles to West Yellowstone, and about 150 to Sun Valley.

I will change my recomendation of Jackson Hole to Cody Wy. it is close to Chiej joseph hwy, Bear Tooth pass, Yellowstone, Devels Tower..  There are some big hotels at average prices in town.

I regret NOT going to the ones in Frisco Co.  I'll be going west next summer one way or the other.

+1 Colorado, Oregon. Utah, somewhere out west in a mountainance region, higher elevation sounds good to me. InZane on east side=more from the east? Would the reverse be tru also?

N.H. would be great except for the distance for many to attend.  Great temps, roads, sights, and food!  But hey we made it to Eureka springs as did some Nova Scotia riders.....  just sayin... (understanding that for quite a few of our members, NH would be even further than what it was for the Nova Sotia riders for Eureka Springs.)

You got lucky... it's been 105 a lot this summer.  VERY hot.  We had one 107 day.  and just downright miserable.

Plus, while we got some decent roads down south... they are all in a pretty tight area.

I vote Nay to Indiana... even though it's my home state.  Just not enough to do here.  Plus... it's not like it's even a consideration REALLY.
