Ride details...Northern group will hook up in Waynesboro,Va friday evening 8-31 and ride south Saturday 9-1 on The Blue Ridge Parkway. Southern group will hook up in Clinton,TN friday evening 8-31 and ride north saturday 9-1 crossing The Great Smoky Mountains and taking The Blue Ridge Parkway....We will " Meet In The Middle " at West Jefferson,NC saturday evening 9-1.

NORTHERN GROUP MOTEL INFORMATION....

The arrangements for the NORTHERN leg of the MEET IN THE MIDDLE RIDE 2012 have been made.

The DAYS INN in Waynesboro,VA will again be GROUND ZERO for the Gathering on

FRIDAY AUGUST 31st.

The rate will be $60.00 plus tax.

The Days Inn phone number is: 540 943 1106

Tell them that you are with the "VRCC RIDE" when you book your room to get the special rate.

The hotel is located just off of I-64 at VA exit 94.

SOUTHERN GROUP INFORMATION...

Folks joining the southern group need to make reservations for friday Aug.31....Friday motel is ...Travelodge...2317 North Charles G Seivers Boulevard....Clinton, TN ....865-457-0565....Be sure to say " Smokin'joe Ride Group " to get the discount <---We will only get the discount if we sale ( 5 ) rooms...$59.00 for a double...$49.00 for a single

Sept.1....Saturday motel is....Nation's Inn ...107 Beaver School Rd.....West Jefferson, NC...336-246-2080....Talked to the manger today and he told me the rooms was going for $90.00 a night because of the holiday weekend..Since I've used this place with past ride's and sold it out he is going to let us have the rooms for $59.00....You must say " Smokin'joe Ride Group " to get the $30.00 discount....This is a holiday weekend so if you plan to make this ride procrastination is not adviced.

Wolf1910 and CandyGirl along with DWayne and Mindy....maybe two more are reserved and ready to ride. We will find our way down on Sat. and hook up with everyone at the motel .
If our other pals bailout we will cancel their room, should be good to go though .

I was planning a trip out that way and taking the Labor Day week off. I had posted another thread asking for suggested rides in the area and LandElephant and 3fan4life convinced me to meet you guys Sat night.

I already made a reservation for Sat, but do you think others will be staying a second night? If so, we'll stay both Sat and Sun, then move up to Marion, VA as a home base for other day trips.

Any suggestions on where to stay in Marion?

A good place in Marion is the America's Best Value Inn (I think that was the name) where the Return to Hillbilly Hwy ride was staged. They're motorcycle friendly and may give you a good deal if you mention Valkyries and/or Smokinjoe !!

rmcnelly.............the hotel is on US Route 11 or North Main St in Marion near exit 47 of I-81. If possible I may join you there for a day of riding. Not far from me here in East Tennessee. I grew up near Marion

Just booked my room for Sat at Nation's Inn. Charlie (Land Elephant) will be at my place Fri night and we will be heading out early for a leisurely 500 mile ride due east across OH into WV where we will pick up 16 (awesome road!) down. Woohooo!

I can't make this one, Joe. Sorry. I have roots just outside West Jefferson... My great, great, great grandad moved to Ashe County in the 1850s with his family, including my great, great grandad. They started a family farm there. My great grandad was born there, and my great grand mother was born a couple of farms down from them along the same road. After marrying, they moved 'over the mountain' to Shady Valley, TN, and started their own farm... Ya might say I have a strong connection with that area. Anyway, y'all say howdy to my folks fer me!
