I posted this on the classified board but realized that the Valk I am looking for may not know its for sale

Long story short, I`ve been looking for a special Valkyrie for almost two years

Looking for something with hard bags (Tourer or not) and a full fairing with stereo setup but not an Interstate. Prefer the black with red stripe. blue with white stripe or black or custom paint.

See why I`ve been looking for two years.....

At first I had to sell my own MC and saw one or two sell before I could move on it. Now I have a firm offer on my ride.

I found a beauty Valk that was on and off ebay unsold and finally contacted the owner but he had changed his mind and decided not to sell ($6000).

I found another but he had just taken a deposit   from someone else ($6250).

Now I`m going to take a big chance and complete the sale of my mc and hope ``the one`` comes around before next Summer. Thanks for letting me vent.

I`m not looking for links to Valkyries on Craigslist, Cycletrader, Yakaz etc, believe me I`ve seen them all and look almost every day for newly listed ones.

But if you`ve been thinking about selling your Valkyrie and it meets the description above or know of one in your area, let me know!

Not thinking about an IS right now.

Thanks.

Serk

Your best bet might be to find a Valk in decent condition and then make it the bike you want... More work, but a lot more obtainable...

Either way, good luck in your quest!

Dumb question here.

When did they build a red/white Tourer?
I thought they were all STD's.

From Dag's site.....

"The GL1500CT'97 Valkyrie Tourer was sold in 1997 in one of three color schemes: Black, American Red with Pearl Glacier White, or Pearl Sonoma Green with Pearl Ivory Cream."

'97 was the only year for the Red & White's.   :cooldude:

Don't know if they're still available or not, but you can contact the owners to find out.

You'd have to write me a pretty huge check to convince me to part with mine.

Just my opinion, but...

When you are looking for that "SPECIAL" Valkyrie and then you show a couple of examples in your post of about $6000, I think most guys with those "special" Valkyries think that $6000 is what you think they are worth or, at least what you are thinking you can buy one for.

I don't know how many riders are going to contact you to sell their special Valkyrie when that's the impression you are throwing out there.  Maybe I'm way off base, but that's the way I read it.

IF (and that's a big IF) I ever decide to part with mine (and your description seems like it's describing my bike), I would want WAY more than $6000 for it.  Heck, I've probably got close to $2000 wrapped up in just the fairing alone when you consider the parts, painting, fabricating, stereo, etc.

Not trying to offend, and if I'm off base, I apologize...that's just the way I took you post.

Good Luck!

I would agree that they are all "Special".  I was just quoting the OP...

although I would say a bike like BF's above...I would call "Extra Special". ;) ;) ;)

I consider that one heck of a compliment.....especially coming from you.  I've been drooling over your Valk/Glide ever since I joined this board.  Thanks 39 Chevy.   :cooldude:

39 Chev no offense taken whatsoever.

Its been my experience from following dozens, maybe a hundred sales that those that are realistically priced, move fast. Others which are priced at what the owners feel they are worth (ie sentimentality attached, look how much I have into it) seem to move much much slower or on ebay or craigslist, pass without bids or hitting reserves at all and remain unsold. You can find very nice low mileage IS all over for 7-8000 but many feel theirs is worth $10,000 even if identical. Its just not that common is this economy.

So my post is to find a Valk set up just as Id hoped and to me that would be a *special* one. In no way am I telling anyone what theirs is worth. But you never know why someone needs to sell something fast, especially to a ready buyer with cash and this late in the riding season.

Ive already had a few inboxes and people are being really helpful.

Cheers!

Serk probably has the best idea.  You might be searching for awhile to find your prefect Valkyrie.  And even then when you do find it, you'll still want to change it up to make it yours.

It's what I did.  Find yourself a good condition Valk and turn it into the Valk you really want.....then yours will be worth more to you than what the market dictates too.   :cooldude:

Still looking......the Tourers with aftermarket full fairings are few and far between and the low mileage I/S priced in the mid to low 7's sell fast...  >:( Priced above 8K............sit

You're gonna be looking for that perfect Valk for a very looooooooooong time.

Find yourself a nice tourer and put your own fairing on it.  Woody sells a VERY nice hand laid fiberglass fairing for around 800 bucks that comes with four speakers already mounted.  All you have to do is install your own stereo......and you can find some very nice head units for around 100 bucks.

IMHO, it doesn't get any better than the Woody fairing.  It's what I put on my bike.

You'll need to relocate your guages and headlight, but Daryl at XF6 customs sells an easy to install kit to do that.  He's a site sponsor and helps to keep the lights on here.

If doing your own work seems daunting to you, it's not hard to install a fairing on your bike and it's not hard to install your own stereo either.  Even if you get into trouble, all you have to do is ask your question in the tech section and you'll probably have an answer within a few minutes.

Another fine fairing (that you won't need to relocate your guages) is the Wide Open Customs fairing.  It's a very nice plastic fairing.

And then there's Hoppe fairings.....

http://hoppeindustries.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=55

And there's also Tsukayu.  They make fairings that'll work on the Valk too.

http://www.tsukayu.com/products.htm

Memphis Shades also makes a fairing, but I don't think you can mount a stereo in/on one.

You have choices.....and you can modify any Valk to make it the bike of your dreams.....or......you can keep looking and hope your dream bike comes along one day.....someday.....maybe.

+1 on Woodys Fairing.  He is a Valk rider, and it is made for the Valk, not a will-fit.
