NEVER forget to check your tires before a ride......

I rode my OTHER Fat Lady today.......OMG.....what was I THINKING??....some Doofus forgot to pump my bike tires up BEFORE sending me on a 7 mile bike ride......felt like I was peddling in quicksand.....and I swear it felt like 5 miles of it were UPHILL.....dang single speed bike...... ......shouldn't have taken 30 mins if the tires hadn't been half flat.....


Sans the helmet and motorcycle boots today though......

I bought one of the "Old Fart" flat land cruisers that are more suited to FL.....Tropic Traveler's Country.......

I'd never buy a single speed bicycle no matter what quality it is.  You can buy some decent deals on craigslist used 10-15 year old bikes better quality than new or just as good for 1/2 price.   I think 21 speed bikes nowadays like everyone has is way overkill, but 7-10 speeds bikes are needed in most areas of riding.  I still remember age 13-14 in the 80's when I was one of the first kids to ever get a new 12 speed bike vs. all other kids had 3 or 10 speeds.   Back then,  you had to assemble the entire bike which came unassembled being cheaper to buy and do it yourself.  Still remember spending all weekend putting all the parts on, not just tires, seats,  and handlebars either, but cables/shifters and even decals as well.   Lucky now even if kids today can take off a bike tire and put a new tube inside.

That pic was from the first day I got the bike......just for "Artistic" purposes....... ........I've had several 20+ speed mountain bikes......we have a lot of hills around here......the Wife figures we can take the bikes on our next Florida trip.......

That's good,  I thought you were serious for a second all decked out ready to wreck that mean machine.   

My 21 speed bike I only use 7 gears 90% of the time since if the hills are too steep,  I just get off and walk it up.  I figure in the top gear out of 7 I can go pretty fast at 20 mph which on a bike is usually fast enough for me.
