well don't exactly know what you mean, Clark.  seems like this guy had reprehensible behavior.  for a leader of our military i don't really think it is that funny.

I don't think that leading our troops has anything to do with it.  The guy would probably exibit the same behavior whether he was a general or a manager at McDonalds.

Sorry to disagree, but i am not surprised about the McDonalds guy being an a hole. But a brigadier general, I expect a little higher standards.

I served 22 years in the AF and the sad fact is this happens way more than the general public hears about.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

is "forced sex" the same as rape?

I'll need to see the charge sheet to answer.  An Article 32 pretrial investigation is pending.

You disagreeing with me......why am I not surprised.

Why would you expect the guy at McDonalds to be an a hole and not a general?  Just because this person is a general doesn't mean that he wouldn't be a richard-head in any profession that he entered.

Any person in a supervisory role should be held to a higher standard.

IF those charges prove to be true and trust me i am NOT on the Generals side bust his sorry ass to E-1 throw him in the brig and when he gets out NO retirement at all. When i was in the Navy we had a saying-1 oops screws up 10000 attaboys. They have rules preventing officers from messing around with enlisted people for a REASON. Any of us that have served know the reason. RIDE SAFE.

I believe if you haven't served in the military or been around tha level of structure then it is hard to understand the very close knit organization that exist.  Especially in a combat units.  Now before you blast me on this, I in no way agree or condon these actions.

It is unfortunate the sometimes the military protects and looks the other way when these actions happen especially with senior officials (just like politicians).  They tend to believe the senior officer because of false traditions to the chain of command.

Also rank intimidation happens.  Depending on the individuals there is fear of losing their job, punishment, whatever you want to call it, as well as peer pressure to hide or cover it up and let the system take care of it.  I wouldn't be surprised that this isn't information that some high ranking official didn't already know about, he'd been counselled about it (wink, wink), and that he said all the right things to be allowed to continue in his position.

If you read the entire article it even states that his punishment will be leanent and the worst will be that he will be asked to "retire" for the good of the service. Rank has it's privledges.

It is no different in Corporate America where CEO are asked to resign for the good of the corporation.  Does it make him a bad leader, ABOSULUTELY"! But the military is a large organization and change isn't always swift or just.  Unfortunated politics whether govermental or internal always muddy the water.

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear but.... life goes on.

There's a bad apple in every basket.

You weed them out and keep going.  The US Army is overwhelmingly composed of men with the highest moral charactor.

The only effect this should have on the Army, should be based on how they deal with this matter.
