Just arrived in Denver. We will stay with my brother till Wed when we head to Frisco.
I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

that Kansas is so flat that there are spots on I-70 where you can see the curvature of the earth. Well I thought he was just blowing smoke until I rode east from Colorado across Kansas and discovered the following ...
1. as you leave Colorado and enter Kansas I do not believe there is a 'Welcome to Kansas' sign
2. western Kansas along I-70 is so flat that there are spots where you can actually see the curvature of the earth  :o
3. Colorado east of Denver is pretty darn flat ... even before you get into Kansas
4. see #2  :uglystupid2:

We're glad y'all made it safely.

I covered your Valk with sheets to keep off the dust in our garage.  If you don't want it covered, let me know.

We have a very reliable place in town that sells hitches.  If you want, we can go there when you are back in E'ville.  They will be very helpful.  Here is a link to its location.  It's not that far from us.

Thanks Russ for covering the bike.I guess it depends on how tired we are. Checked into renting a bike for IZ, $638 for 4 days!! No thanks, we will just 4 wheel it.

Brian,
That is a bummer that you had to leave your bike behind. Have I got a deal for you! My wife and I are on our way and should be at Frisco on Tuesday evening. Anyway, I have only had the bike a year and I have replaced the rear tire with a Darkside and just put a new metzler on the front today. I was wondering if sometime you were there you would take my Valk and shake it down and give me your experienced opinion of what else I need to do to get it in top notch mechanical shape. I am sure we can figure out a time period to work this out. Think about I will see you at InZane and we'll talk then. JDW

I live in kansas and must admit that I-70 is very boring.  I usually prefer the northern route up on Hwy-36 or even the southern route on Hwy 54/400.  It will take you longer but you have some nice little towns to stop at that you wouldn't normally see if you blast across the state at 75mph!!!   The flinthills are really a nice scenic route to take right now w/ everything being green...  from I-70 go south on Hwy-99 west on K-4 and then south on Hwy 177...  Really nice for a state known to be "flat".

Anyhow... Glad you folks made it safe and Engemt you need to keep intouch..  I'm up in Topeka and wouldn't mind riding out to meet ya and maybe you can show me some roads in your neck of the woods...   Have a safe trip everyone....

We'll do Stude31. In Scott City enroute to InZane via K96 right now, but I agree with you on your routes above. I really like the flint hills area, very beautiful. JDW
