I have NO sympathy for them.  Colorado used to be solidly red.  But for the last 20 years there's been a huge immigration from the LEFT coast, and now that Colorado has been thoroughly Californicated, we have a liberal gov't, a lefty governor and senators, and a mini L.A. with their crime, tagging, rampant growth, and disgusting liberal politics they brought with them.  Bay area immigrants also brought their high home prices with them, so they were pushing up real estate to unaffordable levels until the collapse in 08.  That may have turned out to be a silver lining - the demand of buyers with plenty of cash may have at least partly helped support prices, as real estate here didn't drop as much as in some other parts of the country.  I used to see editorials regularly, on crime growth, about "here's how we handled it in L.A....".  Until I stopped getting the paper.  I was in a bar once and an overdressed babe was bragging about coming from CA, I was supposed to be impressed.  I told her, since she was new and didn't know yet, that she should maybe keep that on the down-low - Californicators are not much appreciated by many Coloradans for what they've done to our state.

Look at bit closer at the people leaving and those coming into California. Tax payers (tax makers) = leaving, tax recipients (tax takers) = coming in. It's been going on for years and the state is in serious financial trouble. They're literally running out of other peoples money. Their latest retread governor is just speeding up the process.

Big chunk of them parked in North Dallas area. Started running and getting themselves elected to local office. The places to "go and shoot" are a bunch less than back 20 years ago. I've been amazed a thousand times by the same kind of behavior from some urban people who move to the country to get away from the city. And then want their neighbors to behave as if they live in a city.

There was one of these couples who bought a cabin years ago close to my in laws house. There was no trash pickup there at the time but they kept putting their trash in front of their cabin. Then they'd go home to wherever and a neighbor would breakdown and pickup their trash and get ride of it.

Education loans are likely one of the biggest ripoffs in the history of the world. Daniel's link to the California article is all too common. Same with your kids college loan. The biggest fleecing of the middle and lower class income earners to the wealthiest among us. Most colleges have more money than you can imagine in their accounts. The government takes over the student loan program and guarantees only a few percent interest and increase in tuition. The 98% pay for years and years into the system owned and run by the 2%. A quality education, whether it's in those multi million dollar California classrooms or your local town, has almost nothing to do with how much the system costs.

Please, if you haven't watched Waiting For Superman, do so as soon as possible. And buy a copy for your family and friends for Christmas.
