Flashers/Hazards

It appears that the Valk does not come standard with hazards?  (At least not the Standard model)

I found that out embarrassingly yesterday when we had to ride with hazards on and I was one of only a few that didn't have them...or couldn't figure them out.  Sitting in the parking lot with Google on my phone trying to research that...

None of the valks came with hazzards. There are a couple of companys that offer conversion kits just for that, but , I have no idea who they are. Maybe someone will pipe up with some ideas

I did this on my standard and will probably do the IS this winter.  Works great.  If you want to add some switches, the switch box of three that mounts on your brake or clutch master cylinder is a nice solution.

They are NOT required for the PGR.   However, it's a 'run em if ya got em' situation when we escort funerals.  Having the police blocking lights and intersections are great, but any additional warning lights I can run, just make me feel better.

3wlonerider made me a 4 way by hooking a flasher unit and switch into the running light circuit

I dont know what schematic he used but it works and has probably saved my butt while riding in pouring rain on the highway or in bad fog

oss ther're not hooked into the running light circut ther're hooked to the turn signal circut.

That is the next thing I am going to do to my Valk.
It is not often that the flashers are needed but when you do, I am sure one is glad to have them.

I think I saw somewhere a plug and play kit for the Valk.
I know Kuryakyn has them for the VTX

Guys, I too ride with the PGR here in NC. Flash'm if you have them, not required. If I ever were to install flashers the lights would be independent so the brake and turn signals would work. I have seen the HD guys walk way after turning off their bikes and the flashers still going. I guess this is suppose to be this way when left along side the road. Sorry HD guys. I had to type this.

Ragincajun I've done it. It is very simple to do. Go to rattlebars web site and it is a piece of pie. (Already had too much cake ) Radio shack switch and a cheap flasher  all you need.

This is always something to think about.  On many vehicles, the flashers will hide the turn signals and/or the brake lights.  If you have flashers, please make sure you know whether your turn signals or brakes lights are hidden by the flashers.  This is a warning for cars as well as motorcycles.

have fitted a set to my trike, as they are needed to comply with the laws over here in the UK, so easy to fit using this type of kit i found on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Trike-hazard-warning-lights-for-MOT-full-kit-/320472673845?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4a9da8ee35, i think in total it took me 45 minutes. i did not think that i would ever really need them, but i have come across an accident and used them, a broken down friend, when i was an out-rider at easter.... to be honest they are invaluble.

Warning flashers are great for safety when broken down along the side the road. Driving while using them is different if the rider or driver in the back can't tell the difference between the warning flasher and the brake lights. I have driven thru too many bad rain storms and snow storms in my truck where everyone was moving slow and it drives me nuts when the guy in front has his four ways on only to let others know he is moving slow. What the crap when we are all moving slow. It would be a totally different story if the weather was nice and the highway dry and someone had car trouble that was moving under 40 mile per hour, this makes sense to warn the faster moving vehicles that need to pass him. At least when we are riding in a group for a funeral the experienced drivers using their flashers will still use their hand signals. That's normal the job for the passenger, that's the way I see it anyway.

Maybe she (he?) steers you with leg pressure like some horses are trained to steer; that method would be less embarrassing than reins and a bit!
