new front tire arrived today

d404 130/90/17 (68H) is what i thought others were using?  it looks just a little bigger than half the size of the kenda k671 that is on now.  do i have the right tire?

If you do not have the correct tire you ain't gonna be the only one that's pissed off.  Mine is sitting out in the garage waiting to get mounted sooner or later.  The called for size up front is a 150-80-17. The 130-90-17 is just marginally smaller. Other folks on this board are running the 130-90-17 with good results. Most of the reason i ordered it.  RIDE SAFE.

I'm not Old2soon, but I believe I can answer your question.  I believe it is because the purchasers are wanting to mount a designated rear tire as a front tire (at least that is why I purchased my front tire in that size).  Dunlop (as well as several other manufacturers) does not make a rear tire in the size 150/80-17.  The closest fit is the 130-90-17, which is about the same diameter, but not quite as wide.

I've heard they live longer. I'm talking the Dulop d 404. And yes-it's a rear tire. This will be my first rear tire in the front. Got my I/S with Elite 3s mounted. Ran them out and went D/S and Metz 880 in the front. Wore that out and put on a Shinko S E 890. It's done me fine for over 12000 miles. Now i'm gonna give the D 404 a whirl. As they say-we shall see.  RIDE SAFE.

The online dealer that I buy from doesn't have the 150/80-17 as a rear tire, only front. I don't know if Dunlop makes that size in a rear tire.

ok, it just looks so small compared to the kenda i have on now.  i think of potholes that i might hit that would be a problem with this tire being so narrow.  maybe it's just squished down and will look better when i get it mounted, probably today.  i do the removal/install myself.   someone i trust  removes and puts the new tire on the wheel.  someone who will be careful with the rotors.

I've never removed my rotors when doing a tire, but I put the tires on myself and I'm careful not to bang them up.   You can't be that sure with Tiremounter Du Jour, so removing them is insurance.

I have a custom chopper shop that does the tire work for me on the Phatt Ghurl. And he lets me observe the entire change out process. Although 98% of his business is H/D we do have something in common-we both ride as often as we can.  RIDE SAFE.

OK, it just looks so small compared to the kenda i have on now.

When mounted and aired up, it spreads out on the rim, smaller width than the 150 but it looks and works pretty good.

Looks are deceiving..... when you get your first 205 rear car tire, it looks like it will never fit up under the fender..... dry fitting the tire while not mounted on the rim, it rubs everything.

well, got er done - you're right - it did spread out and looks good.  short ride felt just fine.  41 psi untill it seats good.  may go down to 35 after a few hundred miles.  $70 on ebay sounds great - free shipping?

It should last longer and handle/ride fine at 40-1 constant.

Just don't exceed the MAX PSI printed on the sidewall.

Rudy; it's mounted in the normal direction. I ride long days and get caught in the rain often. I rode for two days in light to heavy rain over Lake Superior from Winnipeg to Sault Ste Marie with this tire and not a nervous moment was had.

I'm more concerned with water shedding than in cap delamination. I understand the logic in delamination, but have never heard of it actually happening.
