Just mounted new bags.  Have to change the turn signals. Getting ready to pull front and back wheels for maintenance. Thinking of painting her. Like the red and white. It's grown on me, but removing the front fender and such you start seeing nicks and then there is the underside of the fenders that wouldn't hurt being repainted.

All right why does it have to be so hard to post pictures????? The only time I've been able to post pictures has been when I've used my laptop. :( Photostash requires files to be under 100 k. Why can't I snap a shot with my phone or tablet and upload. I don't have the ability to downsize the files on my tablet or phone that I'm aware of. I tried photobucket and when I coppy and paste the urls for the pictures nothing. It always seems so frustrating. :uglystupid2:

I use Photobucket with no problems.

I'd love to see the new bags.   :cooldude:

well finally just went and got the laptop. I tried resizing the photos on my tablet and they were resized but photostash wouldn't take them. So I tried photobucket and in my post I clicked on the picture icon ,then copied and pasted the url for each photo, but it wouldn't work,,,,uggghhh :crazy2:

Like the bags, but just curious....why were you removing the front fender?

steve 3054

on photobucket....on the pic is a wheel in the top right corner....put mouse on that...a list comes up on the left side of the pic.....hit copy.....go to reply and  right click to paste...done...and yes it will make you pull your hair out...then when you get it ...you will wonder why you thought it was so hard...

You don't need to take the fender off to install those.  It's a little tricky, but it can be done.  Easier than taking the fender off.

No I could've gotten them off I think, but it wasn't hard taking the fender off. Plus I am going over the bike and cleaning it. Now though , I am considering painting it.

They look like Road King bags.  Lookin' good on the Valk.  How'd you mount them.

:cooldude:  BF you are correct sir, I got them off ebay. Not a mark on them ,brand new for $361.00. I admit coveting your bags, but have also always liked the looks of these leather wrapped bags. Especially with my leather wrapped Woody's fairing.
As far as mounting, when I bought my bike, it came with some color matched fiberglass bags that had some scuffs in them. The previous owner didn't have them mounted and I think most of the scuffing was from some rough storage care.
I started the process of refinishing them, but decided I wanted the leather look. I think they are champions, not sure.
Anyways, those bags have a heavy chromed plate that was bolted to the bags and then it bolted to fender rail. I had removed the plate from the bags and had been using them to support my over the fender soft bags. I've simply adapted those plates as an excellent mounting surface for the Road King bags. In one spot I used a isolation bracket which i picked up from one my local HVAC R  parts wholesaler. This was necessary to fill a void where  I wanted a mounting bolt since  the back sides of these bags aren't flat. I also added a piece that catches the bottom of the bags for added support.

Had a bike in Wa for sale last year with RoadKing bags on it and they looked like they were made for the Valk. I like the look of them a lot, now if only I could find a deal on a set of them.

They do sound like Champion bag mounts.....and they are beefy, at least the one set that I've seen.

Would love to see some more pics when you get it all back together.   :cooldude:

Those Champion bags would bring pretty penny in the classifieds.  Might help offset the cost of some new paint for the tins.   ;)

great looking bags from the Road King Classic.
Harley makes (not sure if they still do) a lock setup for them.
Lets you open the bags without arguing with the strap buckles. Wasn't cheap but very convenient. Took about an hour per bag to install.
take personal responsibility and keep your word

Nice bags!!!  I had a set on my bike also and really liked them added the lid organizer to them got from e-bay I think they were less than $25 and where handy to have another way is to buy those sun visor organizers and Velcro I put those on the side in my hard bags.

Here is how you post PICS from Photobucket (be sure to watch in full screen mode):

uploading PICS from Photobucket .wmv

I have found it very easy to use in the past.

It is a little more difficult since they changed several things about Photobucket.

And of course you would click on "POST" instead of "Preview".

If you use the bottom link IMG CODE you don't have to click the little picture icon on the board. You can just copy/paste that link right to the board.

Thanks for the shortcut Joe.

I had never tried it that way.

All right thanks for the help. I was finally able to post a pic from photobucket using my tablet.  It's funny how the same methods I use for my laptop wouldn't work. Most of my surfing and time on here is done by phone or tablet. I rarely fire up a pc or laptop anymore.

Like Steve3054 said, put the cursor on the little gear looking wheel at the top right. In the drop-down that follows, put your cursor on "get links."  That brings up the list of different links and bottom one is the IMG that Joe is talking about. Click on it and then paste to the VRCC post. ALWAYS use Preview before posting, that lets you know if your post is going to show up like you want it to, things such as grossly misssspeelled words and sintinence struckture.  ;) Then click on Post.

I believe the earlier version of Photo Bucket was set up a bit different. I don't get the IMG link below the picture like I used to.

The problem seems to be using the tablet. There is no cursor just my finger. While I have had no trouble using my laptop, trying to do the same thing with my tablet has been frustrating. It seems I've stumbled on one possible issue,  that being for some reason when I paste the same url with my tablet,  it wants to leave a space at the front and back of the url I just pasted. The fix,  of course,  was to recognize that this was happening and then remove those two spaces. Then it worked. Go figure. It doesn't do that when I do the exact same thing with my laptop. :crazy2:
