The Great Smoky Mountains is in my backyard and we ride them all the time but if you miss  InZane how will I be able to buy that lunch I O U  . You can't go wrong in east Tennesee , north Georgia and western North Carolina for ridin' some of the best roads in America . If you come up before we leave for InZane or after we get back give me a holler and we'll hook up somewhere

There will be other alternatives to Ground Zero and likely several attendees attending alone at Ground Zero.

Schedule of Events doesn't appear ready yet, but it'll come.
In the meantime...in no particular order.
There is usually a ride to honor Joe Boyd, the father of the Valkyrie. It was he who had to
pull a lot of strings to get the powers that be at Honda to give him the ok to produce the Valk.
There is a poker run.
There are usually daily rides...both sanctioned and individual.
There are daily Tech sessions, led by Daniel Meyer with opportunities to ask questions.
There are daily 50/50s, raffles. etc.
There is a bike rodeo that members can sign up for.
There are bike contests...customized, cleanest, etc.
Vendors will be present.
BigBF will be there to perform work on your bike if needed.
There is a "little" bit of BS thrown around.
There is a Parade of Lights night ride where LEDs are allowed to be turned on.
There is a Dinner on the last evening in which the local charity is given their check from us.
Lot's of raffles, prizes and laughs at the dinner.
There might be a party or three at the swimming pool.
And that's about it...

Don't forget to mention the early bird feed on Sunday evening when the VRCC provides the early arrivers with hamburgers or hotdogs and beans.

There's sometimes a special lunch or dinner raising funds for the charity.

There's a great deal of tire kicking, admiring one another's Valkyries and general socializing among people who sometimes only see each other once per year.

T.P. text me today and tried to get us up there. Dont think I can swing it. We leave for Sturgis the following week so getting 3 weeks straight off is next to impossible. Plus I got National training starting in April and wont be done till July.  ??? Hope to make one someday, only missed the last 12.

Yes, first Inzane but, not first rodeo. Most of my regular riding friends can't take off for the extended time frame of the event; not valk riders anyway. Been to Sturgis several times, I'm over that event; not that it isn't a great time. Was planning on riding to Maine this summer until I joined the VRCC and followed the Inzane threads. Meet new people, see new sites, a true solo adventure.
Oh lord, hope this goes as planned.
I booked Sunday night/Monday morning, they had quite a few queen rooms but no king rooms. The above numbers represented the total registered for the event, not the total rooms booked. Hope I don't end up in the broom closet for a week, well, they said I would have a fridge anyway.
Alot of work between now and then. Going darkside, adding an aux fuel tank, remaining in shape, several other bike services and additions, planning a route other than I-75 and packing very light.

What Hayhauler said...it might or might not have been selected yet. We leave that up to the VRCC staff--and they do a GREAT job always picking a worthy charity. It's never been an issue. Last year was Special Olympics.

When they brought those kids down to the lower parking lot last year to give them motorcycle rides-lets just say i get a tear in my eye just thiking about it. And to have those town fathers saying how much they enjoyed having the V R C C there-icing on the cake. As i stated before-I-12 was my first Inzane-but fer damn sure NOT my last!!  RIDE SAFE.

I assume the money given to the charity comes from monies collected for entrance...poker runs, 50/50 etc...that means that those fees are actually donations and are tax deductible...correct?

No.  And no.

A portion of the monies collected by the VRCC are given by the VRCC to the local charity.  The VRCC is not registered as a charity and thus no money you pay or give to the VRCC is tax deductible.

If you are making a large donation to the charity and wish to count it against your income tax we will make arrangements for you to write the check directly to the charity without passing it through the VRCC.

So there is no confusion, the VRCC makes a contribution to the charity, but InZane is not specifically a fund-raising event for the charity.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt for asking what was "in your own words" a dumb ass question(I couldn't agree more) since you've never been to an IZ. I can't imagine anyone who's ever attended one to be worried about the signup being tax deductable. How would you then treat the "included meal" that comes with the dinner? Did you not read old2soon's post about having a tear in his eye? He wasn't the only one. Sorry to be a little harsh but if you saw those in attendance bidding over 100 bucks for a pie, you'd understand. It's not about the money OR the deduction!
