Kick stand hitting OE pipes

I just installed stock pipes on my bike, a '99 standard. I dont know what version, or year, of the Valk these stock pipe came from but the kick stand hits when you fold it up.

Any thoughts? The notch where the stand is suppose to sit isnt even close!

Maybe I put the pipes on backwards, LOL!!!!

They sure are much nicer than the 6-6 ones. I will probably end up strapping some rubber to the kickstand if it rattles.

Have you inspected the kickstand mounting location on your frame? This cross member is hollow and can be bent causing the kickstand to fold up in the wrong location.

Yep, you've got a bent assembly.

May be the support or the part that you move with your foot that welded to the stand.

That's the two places where they usually bend - but then again, they don't usually bend.

Most of the time when this occurs it is only the foot-actuated-kickstand-deployer-rod (what ever it's called) that is hitting the pipes, not the kickstand itself.  Happened to me with the bike on the jack and I bent the part used to put the stand down.  Just slide a piece of pipe or PVC over it and bend it out enough to clear the pipe, and fit properly into the existing heat shield cutout, and all is good.

If it IS your actual kickstand, you have likely bent the cross member the unit mounts to and will take more work to fix.  Probably washers and spacers.  I have seen a write-up on cross member repair, but cannot remember where.

The long stem that you catch with your foot to put the stand down can be bent if you do it slowly.   With the stand up, does the "stem" hit the heat shield or come anywhere near the indentation where it is supposed to be?  If that is what is hitting the exhaust, try to envision how the stem needs to be moved to have it rest where it needs to.  With the stand down, slip a piece of tubing over the stem and bend it in the direction needed.   Put the stand up again to see if you have gotten it right. 
Now if the "foot" of the stand is hitting the exhaust,  the cross member that the kickstand assembly is bolted to may very well be bent.  If that is the case, that's a whole different problem.

Shoot! I meant to take pictures last night. I will today. The indentation in the stock pipe isnt even close to where the stand comes up. I will get it figured out.

On another note, I have new ME880's installed, stock pipes on and a new set of ISO's going on tonight. Weather is beautiful down here, I hope to put some miles on this weekend. - Lo

I agree with the others; you've struck something solid with the side stand mount, which has likely bent the crossmember that the mount fastens too. See this site for BigBF's repair.

Don't despair yet... mine was all whacky, but it was just the "handle" that aligns with the
pipes that was bent, my frame is fine (hopefully yours too)... I put a pipe on the handle and
carefully bent it back... looks fine now...

The upright on the kickstand that one uses to lower the stand may also be bent.

Oh, you guys make an old engineer crazy.   An engineer never "bends" such a part.  It's "carefully re-formed."

LOL! I "carefully re-formed" it all right! The cross member is bent on mine. I shimmed it down with washers and "re-formed" the foot kick point.

STOCK PIPES ARE SOOOOO MUCH NICER!!!
