My wife has had a awful cough for a couple weeks. Last Tuesday she stayed home from work because she wasn't feeling good. When I got home in the evening she said she was tired, and couldn't hardly catch her breath. Me being the one with always knowing the right thing to say asked if she had gone to the doctor. She asked why all he tell her is she had a cold. I told her to call and make an appointment. She called his office, but being after hours they told her to go to the urgent care.
So off we went. Once there they took some chest ex-rays and started an IV for dehydration. Her heart was beating like she had been running a marathon. The chest ex-rays showed some fluid in her right lung. After about 3 hours they shipped her by ambulance to the hospital.
At the hospital they took the fluid out of her lung and eventually got her heart beat to a reasonable pace. They took more ex-rays and more tests, and discovered there were actually some tumors in the lung and on a lymph node. Now my wife suffers from NF (http://kidshealth.org/parent/general/aches/nf.html ) , so everyone was assuming that this was cause of the tumors. Well fast forward to this morning. They took her in to surgery to go in and do a biopsy of the tumor in her lung and on the lymph node and put a drain tube in. At 2:00 I was thinking they would get her out of surgery and in a couple 2 or 3 days she would be all better and on her way home. It all changed real fast when the surgeon came out about 2:30.  He confirmed the worst nightmare thing possible. He said her right lung was full of tumors. He said he got it all cleaned up, as well as remove the one off the lymph node. He then said that the tumors were from the NF. He said he is sure that it is cancer. He couldn't give us any more information. He said we most likely will not be able to tell us more until they get the results which can take as long as a week. Damn!
I've been married to this women for nearly 30 years, and this just kills me to see her have to go through this.

Scoot, although it doesn't sound positive right now and it'll seem like forever for those tests to come back, keep the faith that it will turn out for the positive. It's very good that you acted as you did and followed through with her getting the initial treatment. I'll surely say some prayers for your wife.

Keep us informed.

Real sorry to hear that. I went through almost the same several years ago when my wife had cancer. Thankfully she is cancer free now. We will keep her in our prayers for a speedy recovery.
