I've been fighting with a leaking upper radiator hose on my wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 Inline 6.  I can not get it to stop leaking at the thermostat housing.  Have changed the hose, the worm gear style clamps, switched to the Gates power grip clamp (think heat shrink tubing). The last straw was using #2 Permatex sealant on the hose fitting and then reinstalling the hose and clamp. IT still leaks after all this. Help!

That's why I asked.....Standing too close to the problem I never would have thought of that.  Thankyou!

Does your Jeep have a chrome thermo housing?     If yes,

Toss the damn thing and get a dull metal one.

I fought a chrome thermo housing on a 502  Chevy in my Chevelle for about a year.

Nice thing about it, it only ran on the Drag Strip.    Make a run, let it cool till next round and fill the radiator back up.

An old time drag racer happened to come by.  He looked the 502 all over, and asked how I got the thermo housing to quit leaking.    Told him it leaks.    He lest, came back with a steel one and a gskt.    Said put this on it, it will quit.

Changed it out between runs, and when I sold it 3 years later, it still had not leaked again.

Found it!  Take the hose off and look at the thermostat neck no crack.  Put the hose back on and tighten the clamp and the crack opens up.  2 new hoses, 4 new clamps, 2 gallons of coolant, a $10 bottle of cooling system dye for the uv light, and you guys fixed it without ever seeing it with a $7 thermostat housing.   Thankyou.

Remember to use the same coolant mixture that we use in the bikes. NO tap water. Use distilled water for the mixture.

Refilling the radiator is the easy part.  Got lazy a few years ago and started using th 50/50 premix.
