and then you see this news item.....

And even if true the polls are totally irrelevant...

If there was a poll declaring "Majority of Americans want Rosa Parks to ride in the back of the bus" would that make it right??

(Hint - The answer is NO!)

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

I read one of their so-called polls and the questions are so biased, they are designed to get one answer.  It was worded something like "Are you in favor of stricter 'common sense' gun control laws to protect our lives and the lives of our children?".  So for grins and giggles, I selected "no".  Then another question came up that said "are you sure you don't want to protect our children through more stringent gun laws?".  I again said no, and then submitted it.  This is in no way a legitimate poll and just represents more lies and deceptions that the gun grabbing left continue to utilize and they are using mainstream media to accomplish their goals of a total disarmament of America.

..

And the liar in chief is going to CO to not campaign about guncontrol. Remember he said there was no need for him to campaign anymore. Foul man.

I saw a poll the other day that said something like 75-80 percent of Americans favor more gun control. I dont know about you guys but I didnt get a call. If they are going to say this type of number they had better poll every person in the country, dont you think. These numbers mean nothing, not a damn thing. For all we know they could have polled 100 people in Chicago or LA for that matter.

I agree. Polls are generally designed to elicit responses that are desired by whoever sponsored the poll. Common sense will tell anyone that you can have two polls, one commissioned by Handgun Control, Inc. and the other by the National Rifle Association, and get completely opposing results because both will skew the questions. What is interesting about this is that most people don't recognize manipulation when it comes from an entity that supports their own views, and thus, most people become that much more easily manipulated.

What these polls manage to accomplish is to make it utterly impossible to ever know for sure what most people really want.

I do have one question though-What in the hell is the mainstream media (MSM) anyway? Fox News and CNN are both so biased they make my stomach turn, but they are biased in completely opposite directions AND they both have a huge presence and a 24 hour news cycle. Are they both the mainstream media that is so despised? If so, that doesn't seem to bode well for conservatives or liberals (or anyone in between for that matter) who wishes to learn factual information in order to come to an informed conclusion.

We all need to read our news rather than get it from some talkign head regurgitating the same 15 second sound bite over and over.

etc etc

Then it's down to each of us to be open minded. If one sits back and firmly believes everything that the right or left are spouting then you will never be able to seek the truth.

Thanks Britman. I have a huge number of news sites on my favorites (including my aforementioned and thoroughly dissed Fox and CNN). Now I have two more. Learning is lifelong but only if you want it to be.

I believe Main Stream Media referrs to the network news which includes CBS, NBC, ABC, and their sister stations on cable like MS NBC etc.

I said it before, Thank goodness for FOX news.  FOX is the only station reporting the contrary.  Whether you agree with or believe in them really doesn't matter.  Without FOX presenting the contrary, and at least injecting doubt into the arena, There would be NOTHING to stop the liberal agenda.

I would be saying this if MSNBC was the only station reporting the contrary.  For if the tables were turned, conservatism would rule the land and that wouldn't be good either.

I do wish there was an even playing field where there were more right wing news organizations, but until then, long live FOX!

Actually, there are quite a number of news outlets that (as far as I can discern, anyway) do a fairly even-handed job of separating news from editorial, which is actually how I've always preferred my news to be presented. These organizations are not on television but exist in print (and online) or are broadcast over shortwave frequencies and present in-depth coverage of a wide variety of actual news events, as opposed to the boob tube voyeurism that requires entities such as Fox News to have to tell the viewer they are fair and balanced (because if you have to tell someone that pretty well means they can't figure that out from your content-thus giving fair and balanced equal footing with George Orwell's Ministry of Truth).

But again, getting many points of view is the only way to be able to be informed. Preaching to the choir only shortchanges the choir if they never visit a different denomination.

Personally, IMHO Fox sucks just like the rest of them. Maybe the problem isn't so much the news but where we get it. Television news has always been limited in range, scope, and depth by the medium in which it exists. You will learn much more by reading, and you'll learn even more by reading viewpoints with which you agree and then seeking out viewpoints with which you don't agree. It's when our minds close that we cease learning and can then only seek to reinforce that which we already believe.

I watch FOX news and only FOX most of the time. I dont see them making up the news like NBC and CNN do. I watch them mostly because the have the same view point I do for the most part. I am not saying I agree with everything they do but I am tired of the likes of Chris Matthews and most of the others kissing Obama's southern region and swooning over everything the Dems do. FOX was the first to tell us about Bengazi, fast and furios and most everything else that Obama and the left want to keep quite. If it wasnt for FOX we would not know what the left was doing until after they do it. So Shadow if you dont agree with me,thats ok. I dont care. You have your view and I have mine. On this Lib vs Conserv argument, I see now that there is quite amount of friction within the Republican party. Don't believe it's all show business but I see O'Reilly butting heads with the likes of Laura Ingram and Rushbo on the airwaves regarding issues  that has been basic tenets of Republican doctrine.
Also a head scratcher is Priebus's announcement that the RNC now plans on spending 10 million dollars on minority outreach. It will be interesting to see how the RNC plans to get minority Democrats all warm and fuzzy torward the Republican party and their goal of shrinking/abolishing social programs that makes these people vote Democrat in the first place.
Speaking as a Reagan Democrat, I don't think the GOP has to get the minority Democrats. I keep pointing out that the President won the last election by a slim margin of those in the middle who held their nose and pulled his lever in the booth. In November of 2012, the President appeared (at least from the middle) to be liberal to moderate, while the Republican challengers appeared to have too much far right baggage. (Todd Akin - Jan Brewer) In 2012, the answer to the question, "Who scares us the least," was answered in favor the President.
Almost immediately after the election, the President seems to have gone (reference the deification of a nocturnal flying mammal.) crazy liberal, while the GOP seems to have stopped trying to pass laws based on the idea that women can't get pregnant from "legitimate" rape or headless bodies out in the  desert.
I know there are many on both ends of the political spectrum who don't agree with this view. But my point is that there is a crucial, probably election result changing, few in the middle who do see it this way. And if the election were held today, they would be more afraid of the President than any of the potential GOP candidates. If the GOP can keep things this way, they will probably take the White House in 2016.
Here there be Dragons.

I would concur that FOX is conservative based, but I do not see them making crap up from whole cloth, manipulating sound bites, supporting outright lies, and I do not see FOX as a propaganda ministry for the right, as I do see the rest of TV news for the left.  I do read most of my news, but I do watch some TV news from all stations, but cannot watch MSNBC or CNN for long without spiking anger and verbal epithets.  Local news is for the most part a pure joke on national issues.

Of course neither O'Riley or Madcow are news programs.

most on the left sneer that fox can't be centered on the news because they have the likes of Hannity and Beck (formerly) and O'Reily. but the news is pretty much down the center, many times I have felt they were getting it wrong.

You say FOX and MSNBC are the same, just opposite sides.  I disagree.

FOX almost always has BOTH sides have a spokesman for each segment.

MSNBC seldom has both sides.  Just watched Chris Hayes talking about gun control.  He is for gun control.  He had three guests in studio, ALL democrats, ALL in favor of gun control.  He had three others linked up by satellite,  ALL were democrats, ALL were in favor of gun control.

So, out of SEVEN people, they had ZERO against gun control.  They could have had at least ONE token person!

But, NO, NO , NO!  Not one.

At the same time, flipping channels, O'Reilly had one democrat, and one republican on, debating Planned Parenthood advocating killing abortion babies born alive, and if they should be killed, after being born alive.  He had one on each side talking.  His next guest was just one person, but was a liberal, black democrat.  I consider that much more balanced than MSNBC's approach.

FOX does present people on both sides most of the time.  That is where the fair and balanced comes in.

She just needed to put in the stuff about Stalin, Hitler and Mao to regurgitate the same old argument.  We don't have gun rights up here and you don't see the Canadian gov't enslaving us.  We still enjoy great freedoms, maybe not so much in Quebec.   Get over it guys.  Just because you are going to get a  few restrictions on guns doesn't mean that your going to turn into a communist country.  But, you do get the gov't you deserve.  I agree that putting restrictions on guns is not the whole solution.  Harsher penalties for crooks and murderers need to be enacted as well.  But, you need to start somewhere I guess.  No, I am not a Liberal.  I voted Conservative in our last election.  I just wonder if any body here who voted Republican last election agrees that gun control on military style weapons is needed or are they too chicken to say so.  I know that some of the guys on here can be pretty harsh but speak your mind.

I think you're right on the money MG. People are going to believe what they want to believe. The spirit of cooperation is on life support. Truth plays very little in the equation anymore. Many people take as gospel what comes from Fox News, and the Lefties will reply that the people at Media Matters make a career out of fact checking Fox. When top people in Washington like Lindsey Graham say, "attacking Obama is good politics"I see little else but  gridlock far into the future for this country. All the while the economy is still pretty much in the ditch, Wall Street again has inflated with record highs which most likely means another bubble is ready to burst. The rich have their cushion, the rest of us...maybe this time we'll get a real soup kitchen, sleeping in the street depression just like grandpa and grandma had back in the 30's.

sounds as if you agreed with Romney saying he wasn't worried about the rich, he was worried about the middle class (paraphrasing not a direct qoute) fox news said this morning that the percentage of people living below the poverty level has increased to 17%, it had been at 13% for decades.

wall street will always have corrections, this is nothing new way back in the I believe the 14th century there was a run on tulip bulbs of all things, the bubble (bulbble? lol) popped and the prices stabilized. this has been going on as long as dumb money follows smart money.

lindsay grahamster is like mclame (mcain), politicians to be despised.

the economy is in the ditch, and there is one thing Obama and the fed could do to help you and me, stop printing money, shut down the printing presses. every dollar they produce is depreciating every dollar already in circulation causing real pain for those of us that buy groceries and gas.
