What are the Alernatives for a Windshield

On a Interstate?  I love my new to me I/S but not crazy about my windshield. It is a stock 15" and I've not experienced any buffeting yet compared to my Standard. Do they make a replacement short shield like you might see on a Ultra Classic or Glide? I seen a short black one on Clearview website that looks ok but you can't see through it. I just don't like the squared off look....and that's just MY opinion. If I cut and round it off  may lose the purpose of one.

Any thoughts on this?  Is there any pics in the gallery here any like that?

If you are looking for shorter, you will probably have to make that yourself.   Bigger ones are available.  The stock shield would be a good one to cut down.  Big Bike Parts/Show Chrome make a nice big one, as I have on mine.

I assume mine is stock, it measures 15.5". No I don't think  want taller as this is doing good as I can still feel the wind and look over it. Going taller would probably block too much wind.  guess I'm just used to the Memphis Shades  have on my standard.

Might do that Hooter since mine has a lot of scratches. I am fairly tall so I look over the shield now which I like. I'd never have a shield I had to look through.

I have rthe Cee Bailey that is 2 inches shorter adnd 4 inches wider than stock....

I like the curve to it.... It gives me great wind protection... right over the top of my head.. It also seems to be more laid back than the stock.....

I can look over it most of the time, but 20/20 hind sight, I should have got one an inch or 2 shorter.....

I'm 6'1" and look thru the shield on my tourer. I have air wings and very little if any buffeting. Yup, if its scratched what the hey? bunch of painters tape and a fine toothed sabre saw blade and you are golden. At least it would give you an idea of where you need to be. Might be worth cutting the old one, seeing if thats what you want then order a new one to that size?

Cut your own.  Variable speed saw (moderately slow), metal cutting blade, and painter's tape.

Just keep in mind to not cut aggressively on the first pass.  You can always cut more, but you can't put it back.

Still got the factory 15.5 but it's in such bad shape I'd hafta cut it way down an black it out.

I have the black one that you can't see through.  I get some buffeting (5'8"), but I really like the wind in the summer in South Texas.  My wife had to start wearing a full face helmet because of the buffeting she was getting, because of the passenger sitting higher than the driver.
P.S.  I wear a full face Shoei Multitec modular helmet, so I don't mind the buffeting.

Mr Whiskey and Hayhauler those are sweet! Hay what is the height of the shield? I'm 6'3 and think it might be too low for me.. but sure looks sweet! Whiskey I believe I might go with your set up. Do you get a lot of buffeting?

Runnin' down the superslab the answer's "Yeah, a bit". Two lane'n & mountain twisties I caint tell the diff from factory. Alot will also depend on what kinda saddle you're runnin'. My Mustang set's me up a little higher than a factory seat.
And the helmet you run. I've been wearin' the same old worn out Polo novelty for 20 years, (& only cause they make me). It don't have much "drag".
My little woman, Sugar, says it's fine with her, even rippin' down the highway at 100+.
I've never seen a "blacked out" windshield by Clearview, but I might of just missed it.
That's why I posted a pic lookin' through their tinted one.
One of the best mods I've made since goin' car tire, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms, haha!!

Big-T, I just did the same thing you are talking about. Ordered a new wind shield and before it got here I cut the old one down to about 6 1/2" using the painters tape and a scroll saw. Kept the same radius as the stock one on the new top edge then a little sanding block work and it looked great. I'm also 6'1" and the buffeting was bad enough that I just stopped riding any long rides until the new one got here. Looks good but isn't as comfortable as the stock height.

My Ultimate King will sit me up 2" and I usually don't wear a helmet but did because of rain and noticed my face shield was getting hammered....now this is the stock seat as I haven't put on the Kings yet. I guess I know more when  put my seats on.

From what all I've been reading  might should leave it the stock height or maybe higher. I'm 6'3 and got Ultimate Kings coming which states they will set me up 2"..so that would make me 6'5?

That's a big 10-4. If you're 6'3" & goin' Ultimate King, this windshield is probably gonna try & tear your face off, haha! I'd recommend taller and wider to eliminate buffet.
Thanks for the link to CV's "blacked out". I can cut my oem & black it for a whole lot less though, no doubt.

I have the Cee Baileys 13" tinted shield and love it for the summer; however, I would really rather a taller shield for the late fall to early spring and on long trips.  I am 6'1" and on my stock seat I could hide behind the shield a little when needed.  Now that I am riding on a Russell Day Long, I can't hide behind it as much.  I plan on getting a taller shield for the winter later this summer.

Now, I believe the ultimate solution is this (http://www.baggershield.com/).  I contacted them and was trying to get them to make one for the Interstate.  This would solve all my problems.  It would be nice if we had enough people that were asking for them to make a run of these for us.  Check it out and tell me what you think...

everyone's different.   I am 5'10" 30" inseam and think the stock I/S shield is perfect for my height with stock I/S seat.  If I rear my head arched up 1/2", I get way too much wind buffering going on that I don't like at all.  I never had a cycle w/o a nice windshield and I prefer not to eat bugs even on my helmet shield. 

If you are going to get a taller seat height,  I'd wait to cut any shield and see how what you got works out.  Once you cut down, you can't go back as said.

I'm 5'9' with a 29.5" inseam, and its perfect for me too...... except in 90* summer days, I'd really like to try 2" shorter.  But I am too lazy to move the shields back and forth.
