What's going on?

I just purchased an alternator cover not 3 weeks ago from partzilla with a $5 coupon for around $35.00.
Thinking about stocking up on several spare parts, so I went o partzilla, that same part is now $167.00! Alternators are pushing $500.00! Looked across the board on all the discount oem sites, and all the plastic alt. covers are over $150-$200+. I hope this is not where all the Valk parts are heading or we'll be grounded.

My alt cover is still a 9.9 out of 10 BUT if the chrome bubbles and replacements go up I WILL strip it and paint it.  Been there done that got the T-shirt AND the ball cap.  RIDE SAFE.

The one I replaced was a 10 out of 10 one minute and junk in about 10 minutes.

Holy Crap !        I think I need to go find the spare one I had ordered when I replaced the last one and make sure I put it in the safe.   I know it was like 35 bucks for it when I got it.

Checked at my dealer on the alt. cover and they want list price $217.00. Needless to say I wuz a tad might knocked fer a loop.  Chrome are nice BUT it don't make it go any faster.  RIDE SAFE.

You got that right. Remove & replace alt. cover before gas tank removal and during carb sync. Replacement is serious coin now.

I ordered one of the $36.00 ones HayHauler saw and got a confirmation for the order. This morning I got the "Dear John" email saying there was a price discrimination and I could cancel the order if I didn't go along with getting robbed. I did get one ordered from Valkyrie Bling for $59.00 for my own inventory, so we'll see if that price is honored. This part must be going out of production by Honda.

I SHOULD have done this when they got them back in the system but I waited. Ordered a U-joint-FINALLY. While Ron Ayers had a lower per unit price the shipping put them over H D L which is where I ordered the U-joint and the new boot from. When you see the lower initial price check BEFORE pulling the trigger. I hope I checked enough before I pulled the trigger.  RIDE SAFE.

Maybe I will take my old one to the painter when I take the other parts/pieces and get him to strip it and paint is blue like the rest of the bike.  Can't be that hard since he will have the paint gun loaded with the blue paint....

Hope you get em, but I bet you got the last ones. I ordered next day a $36 & got confirmation, then they backed up and claimed price discrepancy. I got 2 coming at $59, but it beats $159. Got to admit it, Valks always been about the chrome!

Almost had a $36.00 cover ordered at my dealer........   almost.

I went into the parts Dept and told the guy about how these POS items krinkle with heat and faster with gas, and that I would like to purchase a spare like the one I purchased last year.  He looked up my name and was about to place the order when he noticed the price diff... it was about 200 bucks more.  I told him that he can clearly see I got it last year for 36 bucks and unless it was gold or silver plated (over stainless steel) to prevent the krinkle issue that it shouldn't cost 236 bucks for a POS plastic.  He was just about to sell me one for the 36.00.... I had my credit card out (would have ordered two at that price) when he decided to call and check availability etc.   Damni.... they were available alright, but no way could he mark it down to 36 bucks.  I was there while he was talking to the Honda guy and he asked when and why the price change.....

It appears that Honda realized they were under selling these and needed to increase their price (probably to make up for the many they gave away).  The price change went into effect April 1st and he said they Rep told him it wasn't an April 1st joke either.

I told the parts guy I would never pay that much for the plastic POS, unless it was reworked with stainless and chrome or even just polished stainless and would paint it instead if need be... but I do have a shelf spare and a new one installed last year as well.    He indicated there was no change in how they were made... still plated plastic.

Wasn't someone making a replacement out of stainless steel  here?

I lucked out and got one for the 36$ dollar price. I recieved it monday 43$ with shipping and handling. Gonna store that thing until I really need it.
