Last week, after Andy, Biene and I left Yuri and Petra, we made our way to the New River Gorge area

and ventured down into the gorge.

Initially, we were on a nice paved road, then it turned to gravel, but not bad, then back to paved, then gravel again

and finally the road became an ever narrowing path.  :)

We decided to turn around about this point.  :o

The goal I had in mind was to make it far  enough downstream to see the single expanse bridge. We didn't make it quite that far, but we had fun.  8)

Long as no banjo music starts up, you're good.   :cooldude:

Hi Andy & Bine,

look's like a adveturetour  :2funny:

I think, it's not the right bike for this.

Greetings from good old Germany. Have a lot of fun there.

See you

Did you cross the river on the old bridge?

Hey Duffy, it was a ton of fun having you Bine and Andy at the house, just wish we could have gone with you, even after Andy played the video that he recorded of you guys trail riding  :uglystupid2: We had lots of laughs about it on Friday night.
We need to do it again, we had a blast.  :cooldude: :cooldude:

No we didn't cross the river except on the main bridge (US 19.)

cookiedough

hey you made it that far might as well of kept going until one of you tipped it?

I prefer paths wider than a goat trail personally.  ;D

Well that's a shame. The ride down and up is pretty good.

I am with you Ice, it was a great time. I was really impressed with the riding in VA and WV. Y'all have some great roads up there.

I am expecting Steve and Glynis from England in the fall. They plan to ride to California and back, then join in on Smokinjoe's Fall Color Ride.

Where in CA are they headed?

Don't know where you took a wrong turn at, there is a paved road, (a very narrow paved road) all the way down into the gorge crossing the New river via the Tunny Hunsaker bridge. It's one way from there to Fayetteville. Trivia, does anyone know who Tunny was and what was his claim to fame? pic taken from bridge

steveB (VRCC UK)

That trail looks a tad narrow even by Euro standards - but would love to have tried it with our friends Andy & Bine.

Thanks to Duffy we are planning a September-October ride from Atlanta to San Francisco and back across the southern states taking in as many experiences as we can.

Britman - we are heading to my brothers in Saratoga and hope to stay there over a week or so to check out San Francisco. Glynis wants to ride Highway 1 towards LA before heading east.

Our tour is very flexible so any VRCC related events, rides etc could be incorporated.

..

You will be riding the PCH Hwy 1 the "right" way, north to south, so the ocean is on your right, right next to the lane you will be in.

Do look inland as you ride PCH. Some of the canyons are covered up with wild flowers due to the constant moist inland breezes.

Try to stop to see the elephant seals, fingers crossed, at http://www.takemytrip.com/10cali/08n_08a.htm

steveB and Glynis are great people! If you hook up with them as they cross the US this fall, you will be glad you did. I guarantee it.  :cooldude: They introduced me to a lot of VRCC folks in England and Wales last summer, we had a blast!  8)

I plan to ride with them for a few days and again to the Fall Color Ride.  :cooldude:
