Today's Ride... Tennessee / North Carolina

We rolled out this morning for a 300 mile ride across the beautiful east Tennessee / western North Carolina mountains.We had ( 4 ) Valkyrie's in the ride. We made our way to Tellico Plains, Tennessee and hung out at The Bike Shed for our first break it was a beautiful day in the hood today. Rode along the Hiwassee River after passing through Coker Creek for another break in the shade beside the river.

Mike ( hupcap ) was going to meet us at Hiwassee Dam then take a lunch ride.Below is alittle history about Hiwassee.Hiwassee Dam is a hydroelectric dam on the Hiwassee River in Cherokee County, in the U.S. state of North Carolina. It is one of three dams on the river owned and operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority, which built the dam in the late 1930s to bring flood control and electricity to the region. The dam impounds the Hiwassee Lake of 6,000 acres  and its tailwaters are part of Apalachia Lake. At 307 feet  Hiwassee Dam is the third highest dam in the TVA system, behind only Fontana and Watauga.

Hiwassee Dam is named after the Hiwassee River. The river's name is derived from the Cherokee word for savanna, or large meadow, and had been applied to two of the tribe's villages along the river in the 18th century.








Now back to our friend Mike ( hupcap ) from South Carolina who did show-up at Hiwassee Dam only thing is he forgot his bike he came in his Mini Cooper    In his defence Mike has not been feeling well and the doctor has him on medications and he thought it best to stay off the bike until he is feeling better.




We had a nice place to hang out and shoot the crap at the dam .




The " Money Shot " taken in my hometown this morning beside The Clinch River.... And out of the fog appeared a mythical beast The Dragon ..... I love this bike it can toast a set of expensive tires in 9,000 miles and burns fuel like a nitromethane-powered funny car.... Whats not to love.

I wished I could of been there....My original plans were canceled and I had to make a trip to Indianapolis Saturday to bring my parents back to Tennessee for a funeral.

Did you guys see the Marina there at the lake? The water at the dock is 80 ft deep....so if you are there in a boat don't drop anything into the water.....don't ask me how I know

Thanks  It is just a case of strep throat, I feel way better today, its almost gone...

Thanks for the offer Neal,  This was a last minute thing and on a Saturday...I usually do it during the week as to not screw up a weekend.
I see you and Jabba haven't registered for Inzane...I hope you guys can make it.

Even that last minute stuff, let me know..... I can get them south to Cinci or Lexington or something for you if you want......

I think we are going to show up Wednesday afternoon for Inzane.  We are heading north and going to go thru Canada and across the north shore of Lake Superior and then down.  We will be there......
