I drove a hire car from Roanoke to NC when on vacation here in 1992.

Unfortunately, Paul, my memory of that wonderful trip has been diminished over the years so much that it would be hard to remember details like where the missing gaps were.   Even the pictures that I took have been lost.

All that I mainly know is that I rode it and it was beautiful then too in spite of the many detours.

That would be a great story ! The story behind the BRP is amazing, one of FDR's recovery projects. The documentaries on its building are really interesting. Folks were tough back then.
