I'm in the living room when an advertisement comes on for this "Honey Boo Boo" crap. From what I saw, is this an all time low for TLC? A bunch of people (kids too) setting around fartin, burpin and stinkin, and its all supposed to be cute? Nice, way to go TLC, The Learning Channel?

I agree.  Amazing isn't it?  I think it's an all time low for many residents of our country.  There are people  :uglystupid2: actually interested in crap like this?   I'm one of those folks that cancelled cable and installed an antennae, and never looked back.

Agree,  even my teenage kids watched it and thought it was dumb and they get into stupid stuff like that on TV.

These reality TV shows are really coming out left and right by the dozens and most are just plain ignorant and not even worth watching.

I saw 'god, guns, and automobiles' last night about a redneck car dealership owner in missouri who shoots his mouth off and has a bunch of outlaw or past outlaw salemen and think that show is dumb as well.  Who really cares about what a car dealership does, let alone one that thinks his crap don't stink.

You mean, some of ya'll still have cable??

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

The reality shows must sell or there wouldn't me so many.  But I sure miss the days when the Speed channel was called SpeedVision, and they had boat races, airplane tests, tractor-trailer races from Europe, and shows on just about anything with a motor.  The History Channel had lots of great shows that were actually about history.  Nearly all of those are gone, so I must not be a typical viewer.  These days I watch TV no more than an hour or two a week.

If there are enough dumb people willing to watch the crap then of course the creators will continue to make the mind numbing bollocks for the fine Americans to gorge on.

Yep I did it over a year ago.

Don't care about watching (paying to watch) the steroid laden NFL/NBA/NHL tatted up plonkers for hour after boring hour.

Where have you been for the last ten years?  that's been the staple of the Disney channel in all that time!!  TLC is only producing what "idiots" or children want to see.

Want to make an effect?  Watch the commercials, call the companies that advertise during that time slot, and complain!!  It's more effective if you call the local companies, 'cause they'll actually listen to you.

We all have this thing called a "remote" or have the ability to change the channel. One freedom left, we can choose to "not watch" crap like this. I understand there is a ton of this on T.V. and it seems as though watching "How It's Made" may be the only real thing left???

I feel sorry for the folks that have to watch this "reality TV" crap...  :crazy2:
Feel pretty much the same about the folks that spend countless hours watching Football, basketball, name the spectator sport. I have my OWN life to live and sure a $hit don't have time to be a spectator. If your life is so boring that you gotta' watch Honey BooBoo for a thrill, YOU need to get a grip and make some changes.....

I hold "The Real House Wives of Where the hell ever " largely responsible for my divorce. My Ex watched those shows ALL the time and would hit me with, "WE don't live as well as other people. (Get a job)...", "Why don't WE have a big house like that. (because one we don't need it and two I'm not paying the mortgage on it)...." etc....

I kept telling here that the only thing REAL about those shows was in the titles...

I did however like to set the kids down to watch an episode of Jerry Springer every once in a while. Valuable lessons to be learned from that show! First, no matter how bad you think you have it there are people out there that have REAL problems (general bigger than they realize). Two, some of the folks you are going to meet out there in life are not operating with a full deck or a moral compass.

There's science there too! OF course I have yet to find out WHERE the trailer park is that all these folks come from or How in the wide, wide world of sports the tornadoes have continued to miss it!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the expectation of arriving in one pretty, well preserved piece but, to be skidded into broadside at full speed, battered, bruised, and thoroughly used up, having poked the grim reaper in the eye shouting "GERONIMO"

I'm not 'learning' what they are trying to teach  :uglystupid2: I've got maybe three shows on network TV I watch. some reality shows have so little to do with reality it's funny. :2funny:

I guess thats my point, "The Learning Channel". Learn how to act like that Honey Boo Boo thing? I haven't seen it past the commercial and never will, but what is this teaching? Like most reality shows, what is the learning part?

I'm with you on most accounts of TV today.  If the misses believed in all that housewive TV show than she wasn't worth keeping in my opinion.  Some people are way too materialistic.  I'd rather own a 100K home and be debt free 100% than to have a 300K home like most people do and be in debt for the next 20-30 years paying it off.  Some call me a tight wad, but I'm living within my means and don't buy unless I can afford it outright, don't believe living in debt forever.  I paid off the 75K house we built in 1993 in about 8 years since didn't see the sense behind having a mortgage for 15-20 years.  I have the 2nd smallest house on our block and I was 22 when we built the home and the fancy builder living up our street stopped me in the street in front of our new home in 1993 and told me outright he didn't really care for the looks of my house since it is too small and doesn't fit in with the dozens of 200K homes he builds in the community.  I can't say on this sight what I told him back,  but it wasn't pretty!  :cooldude:

I'm this close to canceling dish network if it wasn't for my kids I cannot justify paying 90 bucks per month for like 10 channels I ever watch on the boob tube.  Back in the early 90's, the price was like 35-40 bucks and has jumped up to crazy high prices and the shows have not improved or gotten better, just more junk to watch is all.

I must be the same, I like it all. I like the robotic's with the exception it take away too many jobs. The engineering that has gone into so much of this is hard to emagine.

The Learning Channel seems to now be geared to women with a very low IQ.  :uglystupid2:

I rarely watch commercial tv, unless it's pre-recorded, so I can FF thru the commercials.  There is alot of crapola on TV, but there is also alot of good programing, if you're willing to look.

I watch a good amount of "Public" tv like Nature, Frontline & Nova.  While some may claim these are Left Wing sponsored programs, I find them to be interesting and informative.   I saw an excellent show about dogs (Dogs Decoded) a week or so ago.  Great series about Lewis & Clark was just on.

The Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic Channel and Velocity all have very good programing.

Great old movies thanks to Ted Turner on TCM.

And don't forget the Military Channel, great stuff for old farts like myself.

I love "How It's Made", seen them all. :cooldude:

I have never watched Honey Boo Boo, never will.

Speaking of TV that's actually worth watching, ya'll heard what's being made again?

I still think the "worst" on T.V. is "Finding Bigfoot" and this Honey Boo Boo thing isn't too far behind! I told my wife that I would want to have a program, "Not Finding Bigfoot"! That would fit right in with the rest of this crap.   :D :crazy2: :2funny:

Talk about the 'dumbing of America' ! It amazes me the number of people I know that watch that crap. Some of these folks are supposed to be smart professional people. They claim stress relief, what a crock, but, whatever works for them I guess.
I do pay for cable and hate having to do so. All I watch is news, science, history, nature, etc. There is only one sit-com that I watch at times, Big-Bang.

FINDING BIGFOOT!!!   ;D ;D  I saw that show once, then asked myself what kinda idiot thinks they're going to go out into a wooded area, scream like an idiot, then "think" they're going to attract a bigfoot!!

there's another show (I flipped over it one day) called something like "small town security".  I'm not sure what it's about, but I found it to be too stupid to watch so I didn't waist any more than 5 minutes on it.

as for watching TV, I've got to say the "Big Bang Theory" is a funny show, but seems that they're playing the living daylights out of it.

I still feel that the fakest show is "survivor" which my wife watches religiously!!  (I can't stand it, so i'm out working and cleaning the Valk when it's on)
