Suggestions for Insurance Carrier

Day I got my valkyrie, I went to the local Farm Bureau and took out coverage.... No problem...

Today I got a rejection letter. Not sure yet WHY they are rejecting it s I have had bikes insured with them before...

SO, I have a week to find another carrier...

Not real crazy about Progressive as I don't care for their ownership and politics...

Suggestions?

I have Geico.  I know some have had good pricing with Allstate.  I dumped Progressive on everything for the reasons you mentioned.

Have Allstate.  Price is right.  Haven't had to use it yet though.

Pretty happy with Progressive. Not sure about their politics or ownership issues previous poster is refering about, but no issues so far. But then again I have never had a claim, and that is really the point when an insurance company shows its true colors.
A few months ago someone told me that some insurance companies do not insure Valkyries, because they are too big and powerful (widowmakers). I had never heard about any issues about insuring Valks and thought he was full of it, or maybe he was right?

Just talked to All-State about insurance...
Refused because it has been converted to a trike!

  I wouldn't give Progressive the time of day. They are great until you need them. Probably the case with most? They were nothing but a pain in the ass when I got in my accident. They dragged their feet and put me off for 5 months. I'm sure there are some here with a good outcome using them but my experience with them was far from wonderful.  They fixed a totaled bike and wanted me to take it back once it was fixed. 
   I asked the "fixing mechanic" at the dealership if he would ride it? He said "hell no, that thing will never be right". $14,800.00 damage to a bike appraised at $15,700.00. I asked the adjuster if he rode? He said: "Nope, this bike is why I never will". It was totaled by the dealership but not good ol Progressive, and they demanded I take it back when fixed, BS. Thats my decision not theirs.

Was Shooked at the Farm Bureau response as one of those guys had his trike insured with them.


I called my agent..
"Oh yeah.... we got a notice in here on that... They need pictures of it and then it's no problem."
Gave me his info to send him pictures..

More I thought about it, the more pissed I got. If he got a notice last week, why didn't he call me and tell me they needed pictures instead of a letter from the main office telling me they were denying coverage OR, get off his ass and come take pictures himself.

Trike shop had recommended I contact Rider Insurance. Called and in 10 minutes I had coverage at less than half what Farm Bureau wanted and they didn't require an accessory policy because it was a trike. Automatically covered up to 40 grand.

Rider Insurance had MGM when he was a 2 wheeler.     Converted him to a Trike, Trike shop did, notified my agent, he said no problem, I asked what my premium would e now, he asked me what I was currently paying, he said bike or Trike, same coverage same premium.    I asked about value of the Trike on a total, he responded $40G's.   Said OK, it is now a Trike  out of the Trike Shop in Mpls.   He said I'll make a note on your policy.

Done deal.

Ins Co rates and claimant satisfaction varies so greatly state by state that it is hard to give (or rely on) any type of nationwide advice.

Progressive can KMA everywhere however.

I had a car insured with State Farm when I was in the service.

The last time I got wounded they canceled me out.

Contacted them and asked why.

I was too prone to accidents.
Asked what the 'F' he meant.
He said you have been in the hospital 5 times in the last 3 months.
I asked what he expected if I was in the service and in combat.
Never got an answer.

So everything was shifted over to Shelter, previously known as MFA.

For about 10 years I paid through the nose for Insurance due to being canceled.

In year 9, MFA looked into why I was canceled and refunded me all the extra charges they had placed on me from day 1.      They have really treated me right, except for one thing, they will not insure my Chevy Trike.    So Nationwide has it.

RJ, that is just nuts!!  I think I would have reminded him that all my hospitalizations had been from actions while on foot (or in military vehicles driven by others)....that the Marines absolutely refused to ship my POV (privately owned vehicle) overseas to Korea, nor would they have allowed me to drive it in combat with the enemy.

I know grundy collector car ins. will insure any vehicle for any replacement value you ask for of course there is a price for the coverage you want  haggerty ins is the same way most big buck collector car owners go with these 2 companys

Call another insurance agent at Allstate, one who doesn't have their head up their _ss.  A Valk trike should be NO different than insuring a Goldwing trike, no problems.  I have Allstate as well and find them to be relatively cheap even though I only have cycle insurance with them currently even no multi-policy discount. 

One thing I have learned from having insurance for 20+ years for both home and autos is call around every few years if you think your insurance has gone up for no good reason.  I have switched home and auto about 5 times in the past 10 years and will continue to do so until the one insurance company rewards their loyal paying customers that have never filed a claim in their life ever.
