I didn't go far but it was rewarding. NE Indiana has a BIG crop of corn (tall) this year and the country road intersections need a lot of caution but the sights, the smells, and the great weather right now is worth it.  I encountered a few tractors, a few trucks, and not many cars but I waved to all.  It's always interesting that farmers on their tractors wave the best.  Something about being out and about on this, the Lord's Day, brings out the best.

"This is the Lord's Day! Rejoice and be glad in it"

I am.

Wayne, good to hear you're getting out on the 'Strom, I agree re. the tractor riders. In the past when riding those country roads, I've actually stopped and chatted with them for a time. Young or old, made no difference, they were all a friendly bunch and eager to talk. One was a fairly young woman who actually waved me down, driving a big John Deere pulling a combine and a wagon. Told me she was jealous, wanted to know where I'd been, where I was heading, found out I was originally from Iowa and knew what she was talking about when talking crops. She got off the rig, had to come over and check out the Valk, shook my hand before she left. That grip told me she had spent a lifetime working the soil. I love to ride the country backroads in the midwest, the smells just take me away....except when passing a hog farm.  ;D

Glad you got out for a ride Wayne.  I thank God every day watching the sun come up.....
The smells make it for me too.

I was thinking of going out today but it got too hot and humid for me.

So now my 2 youngest kids, my 3rd in line grandson, 3rd from the youngest that is, are heading out Saturday.    Daughter has a soccer game to attend, her youngest is playing.     As soon as it is over, the 5 of us are heading out.    Going to do a grave site tour.   My mom & step dad & my grandparents.    They are in 2 cemeteries about 55 miles from me.

Then we will drop in on my Brother for a surprise visit.     Last time he saw my youngest daughter was when she got married in May of 2000.     He heard she was getting a divorce and he wanted to go tear he ex a new a'hole.

RJ, go out and have a nice day riding and visiting the graves of all who went before.  I would hope that your brother has simmered down a little.

I, for one, post too many negatives opinions on the government on this board.

I thought that I'd lighten up for awhile.

I just wish it was getting cooler down here.  Prolly not until November, if we're lucky...

I wave to farmers quite a bit myself and it's always returned.  However a couple of weeks ago I was on a country road following a convoy of corn pickers ( love the smell ) it took a while to pass them bit by bit, all was fine but then a guy driving a combine in the opposite direction came up on me. Sitting up about ten feet , right in front and flipping me the bird.  Don't know what I did to piss him off. :tickedoff:

Did the same yesterday afternoon and evening.  Susan and I joined Carl and Joni for a short ride over to Reads Landing.  We had dinner at the brewing company there and rode on to Lake City for ice cream.  It was really good to see our long time riding buddies back on their Goldwing after Carl went through three surgeries including a tripple bypass in early July.   :cooldude:
