I was talking to a guy today that says he uses wd-40 to clean his non coated aluminum wheels...has anyone else heard/tried this???I know it is the duct tape of lubes but cleaning alum rims???

It makes it look cleaner until it attracts dirt and has to be redone.....plus it does dissolve some grime.  WD-40 is a better solvent than a lubricant.  It doesnt really do a good job of polishing aluminum....its a quick alternative to actually getting something cleaner

I'd wonder what about that stuff running off in the rain and getting on the tire  :-\

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

WD-40 Is very corrosive to bare aluminum,,may look good at first but will eat it up if left on....Mothers --shines like chrome!

+1 on mothers and a mini powerball.  WD 40 is good for removing dead bugs and removed sticker goo.

The best I've found is white diamond polish, there is a link on here somewhere, for it.

To clean non coated alum, I use Bar Keeper's Friend, or the one with the little yellow chick on it! (Sorry, can't remember the brand right now.) It really cuts through the grime and will do a little bit of polishing. BUT, I always rinse with soapy water and then use a metal polish. If you ever have some rust on chrome, use these. It will clean the rust off and then you can use a chrome polish to keep the rust back.
