Pappy!

I simply refuse to believe you guys cannot see the humor in this perfectly harmless video........

As a native Floridian I am very glad that we have no snow, no ice, relatively flat land nearly devoid of hills & completely devoid of mountains.
Now if we could just get rid of all temps below 70 degrees & limit all wind to 10 mph I could live in perfect content bliss!

Just watch the video for my reasons.  :2funny:

It is funny, the problem is, it's accurate too.

I've been on ice so slippery, that you are better off crawling to your destination..... the fall is much shorter.

When there's no ice it's even worse  ;D

Yeah, alcohol and Winter seem to go hand in hand.  Had a good buddy was so intoxicated at the pub on a bad Winter night, he just crawled under the pool table and spent the night.  No one found him, not even his friends.  He had to wait till 11AM the next day to get out though.

No winter means no ice fishing.  I actually don't mind winter as much as most at least I get some more exercise shoveling snow mainly by hand but then again so goes it with mowing the lawn with push mower although not as physical exhaustion.

As I age,  I have to take several shoveling breaks to catch my breath unlike when in 20's and 30's.  Sucks getting older.

been here so long I forgot people actually live with that stuff.
Stay north everybody-we don't have room here for all of you.

That's just brutal.

Had another skiff of snow last night, more coming the next couple days.

Broke out the heated gear and took a colors ride with a buddy on his V-Strom last weekend.  We zipped around a tight corner and came upon a shady area with 50 yards of glaze ice.  Puckered up, but the Fat Lady's brakes stopped me just before we went skating.

I have to time it so I can ride my bike to hibernation at my sister's garage before the "big un".  NOT looking forward to it.

...its all how you look at it my friend....we not only live in Northern Michigan,
which is cold and snowy enough...but we live in a "valley"....that gets colder
and more snow then the surrounding area....but that does,nt stop us from
having a cook out in ...February..  8)

Alph, find a winter hobby of say ice fishing, snowmobiling, or winter atving, even skiing whether cross country or downhill.  Just have to bundle up is all.  Hey, buy an ATV with plow attachment and go around to your neighbors when the snow gets over 10" and offer to plow their driveways for 10 bucks each taking 10-15 minutes tops.   Gets you out of the house anyways?

I do dislike though driving on ice.  10x worse than a foot of snow.

Can't hide money!  :cooldude:

I've seen them before but cannot justify the expense at least in southern WI where winter driving on lakes only lasts a few months is all, if that.  Maybe in upper MN or upper WI, but not down south.  A few years back the local bigger lakes never even froze over safe enough to drive an ATV out.    I'll stick with one of my 5 portable ice fishing shacks.  Yah,  I need to downsize wife said STOP have enough gear to supply 6 guys with easily.  Only thing I don't have is a power auger but have four hand augers size 4",5" and two 6" augers with a power drill attachment as well.

you're just wrong carl!!  (had to explain to the wife why I started laughing out loud!!)

cookiedough, I actually like having the snow, it's that darn -20* high temps that I can't stand!!  last winter I stored my cycle in my trailer so I would have more room in my heated shed, won't be doing that again!!  I missed sitting on the saddle and making "VROOM-VROOM" sounds!!  i'll have two cycles in the shed this year, plus my winter project is making a single wheel trailer.  I've got all the parts, now to weld 'em up so that means buying a good MIG welder that I can do aluminum with.  I got my inspiration from Grummpy when he showcased his single wheel trailer.

winters not all that bad, it gives you PLENTY of time to work on the cycle.

No way in HELL I miss living north of the Windy City and just south of Americas Dairy Land.  :2funny: Yeah-I still get some winter here in southern Sho Me but It usually don't stick around too long.  :cooldude: Don't even get me started on "lake effect snow". When I was driving 18 wheeler if I slipped and slid walkin across the lot NO way NO how was I gonna try and drive on it!!  :uglystupid2: Being retired means I can pick and choose when I want to drive.  ;) I saw too many examples of folks that THOUGHT they knew how to drive in icy snowy conditions only to be shown a text book example that-surprisesurprise-they did NOT.  :-X RIDE SAFE.

I hated winter till I got a truck with 4 wheel drive, a snow blower, got cross country skis, snow shoes and started camping in the winter.
Like old2soon said when you're retired you can pick when you drive.  Sometimes even with 4wd it took 3 hours to commute 35 miles from work.

Thats funny as hell and I live in the north country [ well, for some of the winter anyway]. I think most of us from the north know whats that like and have experienced most of these antics. A few of them hurt !
