Pappy!

Found a killer deal on a set of Leatherlyke saddle bags for my Honda Magna. Style I wanted and the price was amazing....almost had to go to church.....nawww!
They were located 95 miles away, up in St. Augustine, perfect!
And the guy selling them said we could install them then and there, perfect!
Fired up the Magna and headed out, perfect!
Took back roads from Eustis up through the forest to 40 and Astor. On the way, on one of the back roads I had the Magna sitting on 80 and got passed like I was tied to a tree by a bunch of Zip Splats! Every single one of them was running well over 3 digits. Very fun to watch 'em.
Rode on through Astor on 40 over to 11 and up to US-1. Was running 70-75 and getting passed regularly today....great day to go fast I guess.
Got on US-1 in Bunnell and headed North to St. Augustine.....nice 4-lane highway and 65mph posted. Was doing 75 again. I see a bike coming up pretty quick and thought what the heck (was tired of getting passed)....so I sped up some....he continues coming up....I was around 80 and feeling frisky about the time he passes me, looks over and shakes his finger at me.....was a M/C Sherriff on his Road King....lol

..

From my ride diary of 10 years (10 frickin years where the heck did that go) ago.  :o

On the road again at 7.30 am I leaving Pawhuska heading west (please turn the wind OFF) another rider appears behind me.

I reduce speed to about 5mph above the posted 55mph limit. As the rider gets closer I see that he is helmet less and wearing a T-shirt.

I accelerate to about 70 mph and over the crest of a hill in front of me a patrol car appears, illuminates its red and blues. I roll off the throttle the patrol car lights switch off and I warily continue at a more respectful speed.

The rider behinds me gets nearer and then slowly overtakes me. As he comes alongside I notice the heavy lace up boots, the camouflage pants, the leather belt with holster and revolver, the tan colored T-shirt. As he pulls in front of me I see the word SHERIFF emblazoned on the back of this T-shirt.

The patrol car had flashed its lights for him as a greeting. With a small wave he acknowledges me as a rider and slowly pulls away. For some reason the situation struck me as hilarious and I burst out loud laughing once he is clear.

A mile down the rider the Sheriff takes a left and I once more allow my speed to creep back up with a smile on my lips and a chuckle in my throat.

Behind you they are a danger... In front of you they are entertainment  :cooldude:

Had my Phatt Ghurl 3 yrs and almost 4 months a smidge over 49100 miles I've put on. And I might add I enjoy/like/love/want/MUST twist that throttle. Lights flashed in warning-yup-lotsa times. Pulled over and verbal warning-yup-lotsa times. Pulled over and a written warning-6 times in 5 different states. Pulled over and gotten a fer real and fer certain high speed award-once-so far.  :2funny: And truth be known-I will continue to do what makes me smile cause I CAN.  :cooldude: Most all of us here understand our behavior or lack there of.  Apoligize fer the hijack but - hellz bellz - I preachin to da choir.  ;D RIDE SAFE. That just always gives you an adrenaline rush......ha.....hate it when that happens.    Out in Wyoming once I got on a long straight road that you can see the road for 20 miles straight ahead.  I was arunning 85 to 90 mph on my BMW K bike and only one car in sight way up there.  I quickly closed on him and when I got behind him I started to make my break around him when he turned on his police lights that were inside the car in the back windshield.    I slammed on the brakes and almost ran into him trying to slow down and once under control behind him I looked into the police car and he was looking at me in his rearview mirror and with 1 finger sticking up was shaking his finger at me......ha.......he truned off his lights and we continued on at 65 mph.   ha

Another from the memory banks. About 1981 when I was a motorcycle messenger in London

One day I'm in bum elbow can't remember where in the countryside on a roller coaster 2 lane road. It's 4.30 in the morning and I'm heading away from London on THE cash job of the day. Summer time, not raining, and the sun is peeking. I see a single headlight in my mirror and figure it's a guy on the way to work so I keep ripping up the road. The bike behind zips by me and the rider gives me a thumbs up. It's a cop on a cop bike and if I'm doing 20 over he's got to be doing 40 over. So I tuck in behind him and get escorted for about the next 25 miles. We zip by other vehicles like jet fighters.
