stocking up while prices are low and inventory has been up?

Sort of. I've collected a few thousand rounds of various calibers but I'm not really "stocking up". I just haven't had much time to shoot lately so it's been collecting.

I HAVE been stocking up on cheap 30 round STANAG magazines and replacing my high quality steel mags with P-Mags. When the next panic hits I'll turn around and sell the extra mags for thirty to fifty bucks each to the next generation of suckers.

I think I agree with this.  why try to take advantage of people?  get what you need for yourself, forget the rest.  doesn't seem right to me.

maybe, it's just how the world is.

This isn't a hippie commune with guns or a charity non-profit. I will take what the market will bear. That's called a free market. If Valks become exceedingly rare in 20 years and someone offers you three times it's value would you turn it down just out of principal?

Besides, there are plenty of 30 round STANAG magazines out there right now. I'm not denying anyone anything.

It's weird but the WW inmy town still has no 22LR but there's plenty of it at gun stores.

I'm trying to think of which brand it was, I think federal. 2.47 for 50.

this weekend they had some of the federal 325 round boxes, but I didn't check prices..

Your neighbors are on the ball.... they get it as it comes in and saves the associates stocking time.   ;D

And the WW prices are much better than the LGS prices, at least around here....

That's what I thought too but I asked the lady who runs the section and she said they're getting very little in. Of course, what little they DO get is scarfed up...

And yeah, WW prices are the lowest but the two shops I frequent most are only about 10-15% higher for most stuff. In some cases (bulk .223/5.56) they're right there with WW.

Gander Mountain had buckets of 1400 rounds of .22 on "Black Friday" special for $70...

I talked to 'em, and they admitted, the Black Friday special wasn't that it was cheap, it was that it was there at all.

People were lined up for the buckets and all numbered slots were handed out by 7AM, all buckets gone as soon as they opened the doors at 8AM.

However, Midwayusa.com is allowing backorders on buckets and bricks of .22 now, with estimated ship dates (Of a few days ago) of late December, so I went ahead and back ordered some just so I can go plinking again... someday...

That be me in line at 7:32 a.m. about 28 minutes before the door opened at 8 a.m.  I was about 20th in line ALL ahead of me in line for those 70 dollar bucket of 1400 rounds of remington LR hollow point golden bullets (mid-level not bad but not the best,  good enough for all around shooting though).  limit was 2 buckets so 2800 rounds.  Got my limit of 2 but the 3rd person behind me was out of luck along with the other 30 behind them.  They only had a pallet of about 60 buckets at most everyone got 2 buckets though.

Yah, I hoarded but won't have to buy .22 bullets for many years to come and can even sell a few of them for 4 bucks for 50 rounds to my friends in need since I only paid about 2.80 per box of 50.  If I would have been there 5 minutes later,  I too would have been out of luck.    Can't complain about saving about 80 bucks in bullets basically I got one bucket of 1400 for free almost.

There's always a big batch of suckers during each panic.  As long as you stock up for yourself and only sell off what you don't need.  I have been "collecting" a little at a time for more than a year.  Ammo price have come down BUT ammo can prices have tripled  :o.  That means everyone is "collecting".  I am saving back to grab a couple lowers and some parts kits and hopefully I can find a decent AK.
Prices are back to normal. I sold my upper during the shortage for almost triple what I paid for it... Colt le6690. Now tht the shortage is over, I'm going to upgrade to KAC :p

one of my local gun shops had two of the buckets on their rack last week.  I asked what they were getting for them and he said $200/bucket.  I passed.

The gouging probably won't stop anytime soon.

Awesome!  Just make sure to get it before the next media scare/panic.  For me I have found a local store that has been getting a steady supply of ammo in varying calibers for the last year or so.  I did the math and I am only paying a little more rather than buying in bulk so I buy a couple boxes at a time.  Easier on the wallet and no worries about back orders or scouring the webs for a "deal".  Amassed quite a stash  :cooldude:

...and for us other local folks, care to share?  ;)

If ya' wanna get in line for .22 - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/621437/remington-ammunition-22-long-rifle-36-grain-plated-lead-hollow-point-bucket-of-1400

(They've got a lot more that's available to be backordered too)

wow, and here I thought I got a great deal at 70 bucks vs. midway being only 62 or so.  Hard to pass that deal up.  Midway also has box of 525 rounds at about the same price at 22 bucks each - very good deal, but on backorder, but can order:  http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1601314170/remington-ammunition-22-long-rifle-36-grain-plated-lead-hollow-point?cm_vc=subv1621437

Makes my deal look not so good, but supply is very tight where I live NO ONE ever has .22 or 9mm or a lot of other ammo even in stock ever.  Thank god for the internet we have now.
